Last night was unlike many recent ones. Kathy had gone to Bed while I was busy writing the Blog. It was not long after that I had tipped back in my Recliner to realign my Neck and Shoulders before myself going to Bed. Shortly after midnight I felt my left foot being jerked by the toes. It was Kathy saying that I should be going to Bed. That was always the Plan but as long as I was in Pain, it was nearly impossible.
I tried my best, but the moment I lay next to her, she started asking when did the kids leave and wanting to go back to LaSalle to see what other changes were taking place especially on Laurier and Sprucewood. We held hands as we have done many nights since we were married, one moment she pulled my hand here, then moments later push my hand there, all while talking about what the kids she had imagined were doing.
We
finally fell asleep, until
Kathy started saying that she could not sleep with all that noise.
Strangely, I could hear something but could not figure out what it
was. Standing on my side of the Bed,
the noise was coming from her side. When I went to her side of
the Bed
it sounded like it was coming from my side. I went back and forth at
least Six
Times
before realizing Kathy was not wearing her CPAP
Mask
and the noise was in the middle of the Bed.
The
moment I turned her Machine
off the noise disappeared. Within a minute of Kathy putting her CPAP
Mask
back on and
restarting her Machine,
she was asleep. I went back to tossing and turning on my side of the
Bed
until 6:35,
when Kathy said the kids would be here any minute. There was no
convincing her otherwise, so
we started our day early.
It has been a long time since we have had breakfast at 7:00 in the morning. Cereal hit the spot and would possibly carry us through the morning. I checked The Weather Network to see what to expect for the day. The Sun was already filling the Apartment with its light, helping me with my chore of sorting Laundry. That was done before my Coffee.
With Kathy’s Knee still bothering her, I was able to convince her to rest while I started washing our clothes in the Second Floor Laundry Room. It was also the first time I started washing our clothes here before 9:00 in the morning. Since the room is accessible 24/7/365, others were just finishing up, so I used the Washers that were available.
I also noted which machines were showing Error Codes and the Washers that I needed to push my knee against the doors to make work. Today was my Eighth Time calling the Sparkle Company that supplies and maintains these machines to our building, because nobody else does and the one time there were only Two working Washers out of Eight. It must have been a new receptionist at their Office, because she said to just have our Office call them up. Our Office is staffed for Four Hours a Week, and they do not check the Laundry Room.
Back at the Apartment, Kathy was doing her E-Reading when I walked in. The Weather Network showed we could have a promising day. Kathy mentioned she was starting to feel hungry. I gave her one of the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookies for a snack.
After switching things around and starting the last of our Laundry, I headed back to the Apartment where Kathy insisted on going to LaSalle today. After reminding her of the Laundry I had to promise to take her there tomorrow. She was about to help me with the folding, but I said it was better that she rest her Knee.
It was nearly 1:00 when I returned with everything folded. I simply put it in the Bedroom, started boiling a pain of water, before sitting to ease my Aching Back. We enjoyed Perogies for lunch.
Shortly after I had eaten, I unloaded the Hamper that contained our laundered clothes. It took some convincing to have Kathy put her clothes away before I could make the Bed with fresh linens.
Surprisingly our daughter Karen called earlier than most workdays, trying to encourage us to enjoy the wonderful weather. It reached 75 F (24 C) thanks in part to the 45 MPH (72 KLH) South Wind Gusts.
Kathy was not up to walking but I insisted that we needed to get out. She waited by the rear entrance while I went to get the Car. I am glad she waited because the Wind nearly blew me over.
We went to Mary Brown’s chicken to take advantage of their Monday Special for supper. It never disappoints. While there, Kathy again brought up the kids being at the Apartment.
We went straight back home, just on time to watch the “6 o’clock Local News”. What we were going to have for supper yesterday, then today, will now be supper tomorrow.
We watched a couple of episodes of “Forensic Files” before the Lightning started.
Looks like we’ll be going for a ride tomorrow, before coming home for supper.
