Bad Night and Machete Wielding.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Even after taking Melatonin to help me sleep and getting up to take another sleep aid hours later, I got very little sleep. Even though the Procedural Team had listened to my concerns about my Hip/Leg Issues, that they took care to watch for, I was in more Agony than before. Of course, when I have a rough night, so does Kathy.

We enjoyed the Strawberry/Yogurt Parfaits for breakfast, before heading to the Computers. Our area had been drenched overnight with a storm that went on to do more damage further into Kent County.

With a mid-afternoon appointment we kept lunch moderate with Split Pea and Ham Soup, along with the last of our Bing Cherries for dessert.

Never wanting to be late for anything, we headed out, nearly an Hour ahead of time. We managed to make good time crossing the City by taking Riverside Drive, before heading up Howard Avenue. We were barely south of Erie Street when there was a sudden appearance of Red and Blue Flashing Lights ahead, before they disappeared in the distance.

Our destination was Fantastic Sam’s for our haircuts, but as we made the final curve in the road, we come across a scene of Flashing Lights, the likes that neither of us had seen before. Traffic was at a standstill, but since I grew up only blocks away, I cut through a parking lot and alley, to arrive where we needed. There was over a Dozen Police Units and an Ambulance less than a block away. Streets were then blocked with some vehicles stuck where they were.

With crowds gathering along the road, I simply asked what was happening. The problem was a Deranged Person wielding a Machete in a threatening way at people. Windsor’s Police Department has teamed up Police with Medical Personal trained to deal with people with Drug Related Problems for nearly a year. They ride together and this has saved a lot of lives, as well as freeing up resources and manpower. The ladies inside the shop, didn’t know what was happening outside until I told them. When we saw Officers returning to their Cruisers carrying AR style weapons and the Ambulance driving away with only its Lights on, we knew the problem had a positive outcome. If not we’d have seen Crime Tape being put up. Soon the traffic was back to its normal flow on the road.

Having seen no Rain heading our way for the next week on the Radar, we were surprised when the sky suddenly opened up. The Downpour lasted for Fifteen Minutes, before the Sun came out to start drying things out. If that had happened an Hour earlier, there would have been a lot of wet Officers.

We shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Hawaiian Pizza with extra Pineapple and Mozzarella Cheese for supper.

The 6 o’clock Local News had nothing to say about the incident on Howard, but did talk about the unexpected Rain.

We’ve got things to do tomorrow.

Words of Inspiration

Whatever women do, they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.

  1. Good outcome for all with the Machete Man. We do not yet have the teaming of both health and law enforcement professionals. Certainly worked well for this incident.
