Appointment and Metric Conversion.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Even after a solid night’s sleep we both felt tired this morning. Part of our problem is that we are keeping as busy as we can, but it is not enough according the Medical Professionals. Fortunately, we had no morning appointments today, so we got caught up on our reading.

Lunch today was Grilled Cheese and Olive Sandwiches. Not too filling but enough to tide us over until supper.

Since there is so much Road Construction going on in the city of Windsor, we took the straight through approach by going up the One Lane Construction on the Parkway then the Expressway. That went so well that I thought we’d be early for our appointment. I didn’t know the Front Road (Hwy 18) was torn up for resurfacing. Another Three Miles of single lane traffic.

We still made it a little early for our appointments at Rivertowne Dental, and that meant we were called in early. The cleaning went well and there were no cavities found, but we both seem to be experiencing movement in our teeth. That is normally a concern with teenagers but odd for our ages. We made appointments to deal with it in the Fall.

There has been a building boom in the town of Amherstburg, not only in housing but eateries as well. We stopped at Dairy Queen where we enjoyed some Chicken Strips with Onion Rings.

It was past 5:00 by the time we head over to our son Kevin’s for a brief visit. Our daughter-in-law Melissa had to work until 6:00 but we didn’t stay that long. We’ll have to make an appointment to meet up.

Heading back towards Windsor we decided to swing through LaSalle, where Kathy lived for over Thirty-Five Years. Remember what I said about a building boom, this has grown even more than Amherstburg. It’s hard to recognize anything.

I had to chuckle about a Comment for our Canadian Gasoline Prices. Back in the 1970’s the US announced they were converting to the Metric System to be the same as the rest of the world. Canada went ahead and did the conversion, against the wishes of most. The citizenry of the US held a Referendum and voted the change down. Ever since then we have paid Higher Prices. There are 3.785 Litres to 1 US Gallon. Many US Travellers get tagged for Speeding in Canada. One Mile is 1.609 Kilometres or One Kilometre is .62 Miles. Our temperature is in Celsius, which is equal to 1.8 Degrees Fahrenheit. The Freezing Mark is 0 C or 32 F. The only time they are the same is at -40. Some like Kathy, could never figure that out, but being in the Trades, it was a requirement. $2.88/US Gallon would be the same as us paying $.76/Litre and we would welcome that. Hope that helped you understand, why this is so confusing for many people.

Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment, unless it personally attacks someone for their opinion, or is Spam.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

Krackers

Why didn’t the robot finish his breakfast?

Because the orange juice carton told him to concentrate.

  1. Some catch on to the metric system easily but then can't switch back to imperial later in life. My sister, older by 4 years, cannot understand when I tell her Fahrenheit temps, yet she grew up on it as I did. LOL

  2. I worked with metric in science classes in high school, engineering classes through college and still metric during Army time but when I got back to go to work it was all Imperial and it took me a few months to convert back to Imperial. I prefer Metric.
