Still Designing and Visiting With RV Blogging Friends.

Our Location today is at the La Posa South, LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona.

With the heavy Cloud Cover the area had through the night it helped keep the Temperatures on the milder side. With a little help we both managed to have a better night’s sleep. I was still up before the Sun but with the Clouds it stayed hidden for most of the morning.
After having breakfast we spent as little time at the Computers as possible knowing that there were things that needed to be done with a limited amount of time to do it in.
Longest to the shortest combo is only 16 inches difference.
The other day when we purchased additional Conduit and Couplings to create the Tower for our Wind Generator it was suggested that we make the Height higher. Having left the original Two pieces of Mast that we used to measure together I created Two other combinations this morning. One had Two Shorter Pieces while the other had a Short and Long Piece combined. The difference was only Eight Inches between each combination with an overall spread of Sixteen Inches. Putting them near the back of the Trailer was a more accurate way of seeing them. Kathy’s biggest concern was that I would not be getting hit in the head whenever I climbed the Ladder. By holding the Wind Generator with only One Feather in place for Kathy from the ground we made decision to use the Shorter Lengths of Conduit which will add to it’s stability.
Wayne showed up to see how we were doing after I was back on the ground so I reviewed what we had decided and why. What really convinced him was seeing the Three Combinations of Conduit laying side by side on the ground.
Kathy grilled some Chicken Salad and Cheese Wraps for lunch with a side of Coleslaw. While we were eating the Sun broke through the Clouds and before long they were mostly gone.
Grass is growing in the desert.
While Kathy did up the dishes I went back outside to prep the fittings for welding. Part of that involves removing Bar-Code Stickers because that would affect the fitting process and when they start to burn leaves a residue that is hard to paint over. Kathy ended up helping me to finish that task. It was after 2:30 by the time I had everything put away and went in to get cleaned up.
This Wash behind our Trailer was flowing last night.
We headed out around 3:45 making our way over to the Garbage Bins to drop off our Trash then heading for Quartzsite. Our first stop was Herb’s Hardware where we picked up some Paint to apply to the welded Joints to prevent them from rusting. Here in the Desert rusty things are a common sight and it is not the death of the piece of metal. The area we live in Ontario the Humidity level is so high that Rust is like a Death Sentence to things left unpainted.
Clouds gathering again.
With our purchase in hand we then drove the Five Hundred Feet across Arizona 95 to the Quartzsite V.F.W. We were there to meet Tom and Deb from the blog Celebrating the Dance for the Friday Night Fish Fry. Since we first met them Two Years ago they are so much like us in many ways that we can talk about practically anything with them. That evening we went to the Quartzsite V.F.W. for the Friday Night Fish Fry. After it happened again Last Year Deb noted we had just started a tradition which is now Three Years running.
The meal was wonderful but the company was better and the conversation never stopped the entire time we were there. We invited them back to our place to continue visiting. It was just after 6:00 when we walked out to see the Sun beginning to set. The Temperature had dropped as the Wind started to increase again.
Back Home Kathy and Deb went inside while I showed Tom the Wind Generator. He was surprised as to how heavy it actually was. Then I showed him the Conduit that I’ll make the Tower from and explained the Theory behind its design. We joined the Ladies inside where it was warmer.
We had mentioned what our Hobby used to be before we gave it up to be RVers. Inside I opened the Picture File on my Computer so they could actually see what we were talking about. After that we had plenty to talk about especially how we have to adjust things as we age and our Grandchildren. We had a wonderful visit and it was past 8:30 when they left but we are hoping to see them again before we all leave the area in March.
The upper Blue colour is all Clouds.
The Wind has started to pick up again with Higher Wind Speeds forecasted for Sunday. I need to get that Wind Generator working to make use of it. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

Words of Inspiration

Absence diminishes mediocre passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans fires.

  3. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening from start to finish. The conversation as always was lively. So glad you decided to show us pictures of some of the cakes the two of you created over the years. WOW and just looking at the pictures we can tell you put a lot of time into this hobby as you called it.
I know you showed Tom your wind turbine but I had no idea just how big it was until I say the picture of you with it. Tom and I will be following along to see how it adds to your energy supply. Hope to see you two again before we all start the trek east.
