After having such a wonderful night’s sleep I managed to be downstairs shortly after 7:00 this morning noting that the Sun wasn’t ready to start the day. I had the chance to observe that there were all kinds of wispy Clouds in the Sky that were not there when the Sun had set yesterday. That gave its morning appearance more of a show.
When I opened our E-Mail this morning we had received a message from Marlene and Benno from the blog Marlene and Benno's Odysseys on Land and Water. After reading that we were about to purchase a Wind Generator to supplement our Solar Panels they came across someone in the park they are staying in with exactly what we ordered. Unfortunately this person had it sitting atop of his Picnic Table without really fastening it down. It required a few repairs to put it back together but it is once again operating the way it was designed to do. Thank you for the pictures Marlene and hopefully we’ll have pictures of our own Wind Generator running soon.
Notice Rocks holding a wooden frame down
so the wind won't blow it over.

That is how this person set his Wind Generator up to
Charge his Batteries at the Picnic Table.

At 10:00 MST we made a call to Amherstburg Ontario to wish our grandson Cameron a Happy Birthday. Hard to believe that he is already Nineteen Years Old.
While we sat getting caught up with our On-Line reading the south Wind Gusts were again hitting our Trailer hard enough that it felt like someone had ran their car into it. The Weather Network said we were getting 4 to 7 MPH Winds but our neighbour Ken’s Flags were holding steady.
Kathy does not like the Wind so our plans changed really quick. We had planned on refilling our Propane Tanks today and Laundry tomorrow. After I sorted the Laundry and washed up we worked together making Chicken Salad Wraps that Kathy grilled in the Frying Pan while I made the Strawberry covered Yogurt for dessert.
Few Clouds but lots of Wind.
As soon as the dishes were done we were out the door loading the Truck. With forecasted Winds of 18 to 29 MPH for this afternoon they were already blowing hard enough it was difficult to hold the Doors open and yet there was not a Cloud in the Sky. Since it is quicker we headed passed the Dump-Out Station to the main road where a handful of RVs were lined up.
Desert Flowers are growing along the Interstate.
We were soon heading west on I-10 towards Blythe California. It has been nearly a month since we experienced any Rain in the area but the result is a lot of Green beginning to fill the Desert.
We had been told about a second Laundromat in Blythe but when we found it there seemed to be a lot of Machines that were Out of Order and the people inside looked like they hadn’t bathed in a year. We were soon back to the Laundromat that we feel comfortable using. All their Machines were working and the Caretaker was there cleaning things up.
By the time we finished folding everything and loaded it into the Truck I remembered there was a Verizon outlet in Blythe that we’ve gone to before. Since I had not gotten desperate enough to call Tech Support and have them put me through to Customer Service I thought they could help.
Filipo didn’t appear to believe me about the Verizon Automated Answering Service hanging up on me when I try to pay our bill. When I showed him the Customer Service Phone Number he wanted me to call on Speed Dial on my TracFone he was surprised. When I dialed it and put it on Speaker he could not believe that Verizon would be dumb enough to have their Computers hang up on customers. Using their phone system I was finally able to pay our bill.
This is what birds call a Family Tree.
A couple of Shadowy Figures heading for our Truck.
We went to Jack-in-the-Box where we selected our meals for supper. Their food is just as tasty as McDonald’s at a fraction of the cost. As we were leaving we noticed that the Wind had calmed down.
From there we headed to Albertson’s to get a few groceries before heading back to Quartzsite and Home.
The Sun had set before we reached Quartzsite so there were no Sunset Pictures tonight. After getting everything put away and sitting down to our Computers the Wind started buffeting our Trailer again.
The headlights you see are vehicles snaking their way
towards Quartzsite on I-10.
We’ll see how the Wind is tomorrow before deciding what we’ll be doing. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Rick, it demonstrates any installation of a wind generator has to be done properly even with this fine 600 watt wind generator. In case of a three bladed noisy egg beater, like the Air-X Marine wind generator we had on our boat, which can be outright dangerous when not mounted high enough up, it could scalp a person or take the fingers off.

  2. You better tie down your rig, it sounds like the winds are nasty there!
