Snow On The Mountains and Windy Day Getting Things Done.

Our Location today is at the La Posa South, LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona.

With all the Rain and High Winds we had yesterday and our being mostly inactive just made us even more tired then we actually were. Kathy figured she’d take a Shower before going to bed so we made certain to turn on the Water Heater early so she could. We had been discussing what we’d be doing today for over a Half Hour before she went upstairs so we were focused on our conversation. Imagine her surprise when the only thing coming out of the faucet was COLD Water. Next to the Switch the Fault Light was lit so she skipped her shower.
You can see the Clouds covering the Mountain Peak.
Even though I got to bed later last night I was awake staring at the ceiling for over an Hour before heading downstairs this morning. It wasn’t even 7:00 yet and was still dark outside. I took a picture to prove it but like the last couple of times the Camera could not focus on the Darkness.
The one thing I noticed was our neighbour Ken’s Flags were all hanging loosely which made me wonder what was happening with our Wind Generator. Opening the Window Shade closest to my chair I wasn’t surprised to see it completely Motionless. We had plenty of Wind before the Generator was connected but now that it is we had none. ???
I had most of my morning reading finished before Kathy joined me for breakfast. At that moment it was like someone turned on a switch outside and suddenly all the Flags were flying straight out. While my second cup of Coffee cooled a little I busied myself with my inside chores.
Looking out our Windows Kathy pointed out how Two of the many Mountain Peaks in the area suddenly had a Whitish appearance to them. They had never appeared that way before and with other areas of Arizona getting Snow that was a real possibility. Yesterday’s Clouds hid those Peaks from our view and with the Cold Wind and Rain we were getting it had to be Snow. At least it wasn’t covering our Trailer like many others are getting.
Between checking The Weather Network and actually stepping outside briefly I had to dress up before going out to work. Since the North Wind was blowing and we already had One Empty Propane Tank I checked the other Two to be certain they still had fuel in them. Then I went to check the Water Heater to see what was happening with it. Wayne came over and when I told him about Kathy’s cold shower he suggested that it was probably the Control Module and that RV Lifestyles should have them in stock. Wayne also agreed that it was Snow on those peaks.
We kept lunch lite by having Chicken Soup along with a Yogurt Cup and a couple of Cookies for dessert.
As soon as we finished eating we headed over to RV Lifestyles to get a replacement. Passing the Vendors Area on Kuehn Street some were still closed due to the cold Wind. When I showed the Module to Bobbi she said she could easily sell me the Replacement for $242.00 or a New Brand for $163.00 but suggested taking it to the Service Desk to have it tested first. When they connected it to the Tester it checked out just fine. That particular Water Heater is known to be Temperamental if it is Windy, Raining or you have Low Propane Pressure. That was why they had it tested first.
Next we headed over to RV Pit Stop. The place was packed with everyone topping off their Tanks because of the Cold Weather we have been getting. Even though we had barely gotten off the road when we pulled in we were on our way out in Ten Minutes after getting our Propane Tank filled.
Back Home Kathy had to gather the Receipts so she could do her Bookkeeping. I again dressed for the cold and reassembled the Water Heater. Since it was now Thirteen Days since I last emptied our Waste Tanks today was the day. The First Barrel full I went to the RV Dumping Station because I was first in line. Totally emptying the Grey Tanks today I took another Half a Barrel of Grey Water to the Blue Boy Dumping Station because there was a line up at the other.
Supper was another lite meal where Kathy made us grilled Cheese Sandwiches along with a Sliced Apple that we shared for dessert. The Wind has since calmed down so we doubt the Wind Generator is charging our Batteries but that meant Kathy had Hot Water for her Shower tonight. Tomorrow we aren’t sure what we’ll be doing yet. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. You lucked out not having to buy a new part for your water heater but more importantly that you have the knowledge to be able to install it yourself.

Wish we were able to get some snow here not because I care for it but it would help kill the weeds I am battling.

Glad Kathy got her warm shower tonight.

  2. Yup ... that was snow!! Got plenty of it here. No worries, the wind will return, no doubt. I mean think about it ... even when it's windy at night, you'll be making power. That's pretty cool.

  3. Is that homemade chicken soup? It looks yummy! Nice Kathy got her shower and it didn't cost you the $$ to fix. Sounds like a great day. You will have plenty of wind i'm sure!

  4. Nice sunset photos! You'll have plenty of opportunities to see the wind generator in action. Be happy when its calm so you can sit outside. Maybe now that your jobs are finished you'll sit and do nothing? (no you won't ;-)
