In yesterday’s Blog I wrote about a pleasant change of Plans for us today. Kathy and I were walking out to the Truck at 7:30 this morning when my phone went off. It was Dave who was supposed to meet us in Chatham with our New To Us Trailer. He had not reached St Thomas when he lost the Alternator in his Truck. He was going to get towed back to his place with the Trailer.
After retrieving the Handwritten GPS Instructions we were soon on our way. First stop was at the Pioneer gas station to put $210.00 of Diesel in to make the trip.
Having taken the exact same route just over a Week ago there was a complete change of scenery. Nine Days ago the Trees were full of Colourful Leaves but it Rained nearly the entire day. Today we had beautiful Sunshine but most of the trees were bare. Since I hadn’t adjusted the Static Straps on the Truck lately Kathy found herself having a few quick Snaps throughout the countryside drive.
When we arrived at Dave and Kim’s home in Port Bruce the Tow Truck was just leaving. We spent a few more minutes getting acquainted with the controls and securing the inside of the Trailer before starting our trek back to Windsor.
The first thing Kathy noted was the Truck acted like it was not towing. This Trailer is Twelve Feet Shorter and less than Half the Weight.
It was approaching noon when we stopped at a McDonald’s on the edge of London to have our lunch. While we were at it we tried calling my sister Anna who only lives a few miles away but got no answer. We were about Ten Miles down the Highway when she called back. We’ll get together next time. Love you Anna.
We made a brief pause at the Tilbury En-Route rest stop so we could get out and stretch before completing our trip back to Guardian Storage in Windsor.
Bigger than its neighbour. |
Having already reserved a much shorter Parking Spot we first gathered our boards from the Storage Unit. Like other times when we had other spots Kathy was unsure of exactly how we needed to set up. It took close to an Hour to be parked, unhooked, open the Trailer for a quick inspection and to head for home. At least now we can start getting things ready for our next adventure.
The recliners were not made for this trailer. Two Table Chairs and a Recliner are at the back just for transporting. |
Kathy and I hardly noticed towing the Trailer but the Truck did. All the Diesel I had put in this morning plus had been used. At $2.193/Litre it cost another $254.00 to fill the tank which should get me to work for the next Two Weeks. That’s right $464.00 for a one day road trip. Hopefully next time that will be as we are headed south.
We waited until after the 6 o’clock Local News was finished before sharing a Store Bought Medium Thin Crust Chicken Pizza for supper.
Tomorrow there’s a lot of errands to run using the Car.
