Gremlins and Remembrance.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

First and Foremost, I want to say Thank You to all the Service Members who fought so we could enjoy the lives we have today. Many of those made the Ultimate Sacrifice in the process. That is something that we should always treasure and “Never Forget”.

I want to Thank all our faithful readers that continue to see what we’ll be doing in our upcoming travels. I was going to respond to many of your questions and even Planned (that word again) to add photos to back up some of the things I was talking about, but it seems there are Gremlins in my Computer. That’s right those fury little guys that do things to mess with your mind.

Last week when I changed the Header Picture to our Blog it suddenly looked like everything had been thrown into a pile. I couldn’t see where the new picture began or ended as the other Gadgets were Mish-Mashed together. I worked on it for nearly an Hour destroying more of our creation that took years to accomplish. Finally, I simply shut it down and went to bed. As soon as I opened the Blog the next day Everything was exactly the way it was meant to be. I could hear those Gremlins laughing behind my back.

I was researching pictures of different stages of our RV Life and putting them into a separate folder. The next thing I knew there was a Wallpaper change on my Laptop that I don’t recall making. With all the desert pictures filled with Clouds mostly blocking out the Sun it turned out to be a quick fix. Again, I could hear those Gremlins laughing.

Still on the Afternoon Shift we were again working on the Looong Feedscrews that Alec started early in the morning. He would stay until 5:00 most nights while I was busy doing TIG repairs on other rebuilds. When he left, I had to stay at the Plasma Transfer Arc to keep it on track. Those Gremlins had followed me to work and kept changing the course of the Torch. It took a number of adjustments into the early morning to finish the shift. How my eyes remained open while I buried the Screw in the Sandbox I don’t know.

Thankfully the cooler nights with the driver's window down saw me get home safely. As smoky as I was a shower was a definite must which brought on another problem. Showers invigorate me which cause many sleepless hours and as soon as Kathy got up in the morning, I was awake for the day.

Let’s get back to the Gremlins. My Plan was to go to work earlier Thursday so I could leave before midnight. Then Mile informed me he was bringing in a Specialist in PTA Welding and requested I be there Friday by 9:00. It seemed he had forgotten that I had a scheduled CAT Scan that I had reminded him of the entire week.

I managed to be showered and in bed before midnight but did not feel like getting up before 6:00. At the Hospital when I went through Admitting they told me just go to the Diagnostic Imagining Department. At Diagnostic Imagining Department myself and another person were sent back to Admitting. We were told to come back at 7:30 because they could not do it. Back at Diagnostic Imagine they said we needed to have the Armband even though their Computers showed our appointments. When Admitting again refused to process us my voice grew very loud. The Security Guards from the far side of the Foyer were now standing next to me along with another Woman who asked what the problem was. The Admitting person gave the same lame excuse while the other person and I gave a different version. The Woman we were speaking to was the “Hospital Administrator”. Suddenly our names mysteriously appeared on the Computer. Those darn Gremlins.

After changing my clothes at the Apartment I left a note to Kathy that I would see her for lunch. The person Mile had come in only showed up an Hour late but there was plenty of repairs for me to do. The person was amazed how advanced this PTA was compared to what they used to run and in the end he told Mile we were on track to solving the Pinhole Problem. (In other words, he didn’t have a clue.)

Before I left, I had to TIG Weld the Centering Holes on Two Feedscrews. They referred that as doing a Nose Job. Is that like being a Plastic Surgeon but for Hard Nosed customers? Those Screws were being shipped this afternoon and I am certain Mile was looking for me after lunch. I was told Afternoon Shift doesn’t work on Fridays.

I picked lunch up at Wendy’s on my way home but when I walked in the Apartment had a bit of a surprise. For the last Ten Months I mentioned how our Refrigerator has been Freezing all our food in the Fridge. Today the replacement arrived but the doors needed to be reversed so Kathy had all our perishables in our Laundry Baskets covered with Towels to stay cold. We had finished eating before Mike returned to make the change.

Kathy organizing our new Fridge.

It took Kathy and I nearly an Hour to get everything put away. Now we know what we have to use up.

Starting to feel worn out I sat down only to have those Gremlins close my eyes for nearly an Hour. When they opened again Kathy was on her Computer next to me.

I needed another shower before we had our Veggie Wraps for supper.

Minutes later we were on our way to Belle River. It has been a number of Years since I was there at night and like many municipalities things have changed. The building used to be on a corner, but the town closed the street leading to the main road, so I missed it the first time.

I was there as a final visit to one of my many Journeymen I worked under while serving my Apprenticeship. I had a few moments of self-reflection at things “Bud” and I accomplished together after my graduation because the Family had not returned from their supper break. Then I had a chance to speak with his son and daughter that I also got to know through the years. The one thing “Bud” always wanted was to go quick and peacefully. He died sitting on a bench looking out at the lake while taking his dog for a walk. Bud got what he wanted.
