Out The Door Early, Staying Dry and “Son Of Sam”.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

The only thing we wanted to do last night was to get a decent night’s sleep so we could get an early start to our day. We both had a broken night’s sleep but we were both up by 8:30 this morning. We had Juice with our breakfast rather then our normal hot drinks as a way of cutting back on potty breaks while we’d be out this morning.

Yesterday while reviewing The Weather Network we noticed a pattern developing that looked like we would see a very wet weekend heading our way. Since I was ready before Kathy I immediately checked the Radar to see if things had improved and they had not. The storm heading our way had grown quite a bit overnight meaning we could be getting really wet by 11:30.

We were leaving the parking lot by 9:30 but it wasn’t until we were nearly at Guardian Storage to collect our Mail that we realized that we had again forgotten the Camera. It would have been nice to have because it seemed that with each passing moment the sky was becoming even more threatening.

After only finding a Sales Booklet from Princess Auto in our box we made our way to the nearby Dollarama. We were surprised at how few people were there as we didn’t even have to wait outside. Knowing what we needed we didn’t spend much time looking around. After getting our supply of Bread, Buns and Lemonade at lower prices then the grocery store we were soon on our way.

We then drove over to the Zehr’s grocery store to finish looking for what was on our Shopping List. Remembering what the Radar and the Sky looked like the last time we saw them we were only getting what we needed before heading for the Cashiers. Since the points we collect when grocery shopping or going to Shoppers Drug Marts are on the same card we were able to save over Thirty Dollars on our purchase today.
This morning's sky.
Arriving at the building minutes after 11:00 we thought for sure we’d be getting wet but managed to stay dry while getting our purchases into the Apartment. When we looked out the Balcony Boor at 11:30 there were Water Puddles in the parking lot already forming from the downpour.
Kathy cooked up the last packages of Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice that we had in the Freezer. We topped it off by sharing a bottle of Lemonade and it was all delicious.

Finally we were able to start getting caught up on our Computer reading. The Rain continued until nearly 5:00. We started watching different “Forensic Files” at that time.
Listening to what they were narrating we worked together to make supper. While I chopped Bacon, Celery, Onions and Peppers to add to a Caesars Salad before topping it with Shredded Cheese Kathy was making our dessert plates with Baked Apples along with a piece of Chocolate Cake.

News was again preempted but “Very Scary People” with Donnie Wahlberg was on. We’ve missed a few of the cases they have presented but tonight they were again replaying “Son of Sam” that we saw before. Amazing how we were better focused on it tonight.

According to the 11 o’clock Local News out of London and The Weather Network the wet weather in our area will continue for the next Three Days. I know a lot of Bloggers that are feeling jealous right about now. We really would like to share but it seems to like coming to the Great Lakes region. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Rick, I had to laugh because I knew you were thinking of me with regards to how jealous I would be of your rain...you are right...jajajaja :D

While we do not have a Dollarama here, I too love to shop at Dollar Tree where I find things much cheaper than at our regular grocery store. You guys lucked out to not have to stand in line on a Saturday morning.

The other day I saw your chocolate cake and much like this evening, I wished I could reach through the computer screen and grab a bite.

I don't usually disagree with your Words of Inspiration but I am afraid I am going to have to tonight. Unfortunately, many world leaders do not know the meaning of "empathy"...

  4. We were surprised how quiet our NoFrills was yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. I was in, zipped around to pick up my goods and right out in about ten minutes. We are getting a good heavy rain today. Some folks won't be happy but we are well and truly thankful. My rain barrels are filling up again.

  5. Where did you get the baked apples, you didn't bake them yourselves, did you? I find these days everything revolves around food or the preparation of it, especially during the TV commercials making us raiding the fridge or snack cupboards.
