Actually
managing to get to bed before Midnight last night felt strange
but very much appreciated when I got up this morning. I managed to
get a few things read on my Computer before Kathy came out of
the bedroom. As a change of pace we had Toast for breakfast
with a bit of Jam.
Back
at the Computers it didn’t take long to have our second cup
of morning beverage before I headed off to shower. While I was doing
that our daughter Karen called inviting us over to see a new puppy
they had in their house. Since we were scheduled to go for a visit
this afternoon Kathy told her we’d drop by after.
We
made Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch with a shared Apple,
Nanaimo Bars and Yogurt Cup for dessert. Not
wanting to overdo our fluid intake we opted to having Juice Boxes
as a refreshment.
We
did sit at the Computers for a few extra minutes before we
headed out the door. The reason for that is we didn’t want to
arrive before the agreed upon time.
The
last time we visited with my aunt Anna she was still living at the
Devonshire Retirement Home. When
Coronavirus closed everything
down they would not even allow her daughter Jackie to visit with her
outside the Dining Room Window since the window in her
own room on the Third Floor faced a Brick Wall. They
also started adding additional Covid-19
Care
Costs
to the monthly bill.
From the Car I could see arms waving in the window. |
All
her daughters care deeply about their mother and agreed she needed to
move. Luckily they had put her name in at the Riverside
Care Home shortly after their father had passed. Then in
early May they received a call that there was an available
room if she was still interested. Jackie made arrangements to pick up
her mother with a “To Go Bag” that afternoon. Twenty
Minutes later they arrived at her new residence. Her other
belongings were picked up at a later date.
There was my Aunt Anna waiting for our arrival. |
It
wasn’t until I spoke with the Duty Nurse yesterday that I
learned we would need to make an appointment through the Office
Manager before we could visit even outside and she did not work
Weekends. The alternative was for us to visit
outside of her window but the question was which one was her’s. My
aunt said she would see us pull into the parking area and she would
be waving.
It
was much easier to find then we had figured and as soon as we got out
of the Car I could see Arms waving behind a window and
there was no mistaking who it was. We stood on course gravel around
shrubs that surrounded the building. We visited outside in the
Century High Humidex for Ninety
Minutes while my aunt stood inside her room by her window that
was slightly ajar. Since she has been confined to her room until
yesterday we are certain that this visit was appreciated. When we got
back to the Car we appreciated the AC after standing in
the Sun for so long.
Our
next stop was at our daughter Karen’s house in Tecumseh.
There we got to meet miss Nova a St. Bernard-Standard Poodle Mix.
She belongs to Jessica our grandson Tyler’s girlfriend. Nova is
definitely a Cold Weather Dog and already eats more then
Sanford does. Also being only Seven Weeks Old she still needs
a lot of naps. We also had a short visit with our granddaughter
Ashley who just got out of Quarantine after returning from her
teaching job in Spain.
For
supper Kathy served up some Pulled Pork from Lou’s
Kitchen on Hamburger Buns along with Orange
Slices, Cookies and a Yogurt Cup for dessert.
Again
our 6 o’clock Local News was
preempted by a Golf Tournament so we had to watch it at 11:00.
In between we watched a special lead up to tomorrow’s start of the
Republican
Presidential
Nomination.
Sanford got his treat from Kathy today. |
Tomorrow
should be a busy day. Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Oh my gosh Nova is so cute!
ReplyDeleteNova is adorable! Hopefully Sanford isn't too jealous :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa .... that puppy is going to be a big eater! What a cutie patootie!! I rather imagine your Aunt really appreciated your visit!!
ReplyDeleteReally looking forward to seeing how that pup looks in a few months. It will be interesting to see how big it gets. That was very giving of you to spend all that time standing for 90 minutes ( not to mention the extreme heat ) to visit with. your Aunt Anna. Colin's Mom's room faced a brick wall and it made her so depressed as it was he outlook the world. My father had the same brick wall view but in another city until he died. Even worse there was no TV at all in the building he was in. It really is up to each one of us to be an advocate for our elderly relatives.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you were able to visit even from afar with your aunt and under such hot temperatures...that speaks volumes of both of your characters!
