Continuous Rain, New Ideas for Our Home and Celebration Location Resolved.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Sometime during the middle of night I was awakened from the sound of rain beating on our roof. I was fortunate enough that the next thing I heard was the sound of the alarm clock going off telling me it was nearly 8:00 and it was time to start my day. Getting out of bed everything seemed to have a dull look inside the trailer and before I could start opening the window blinds the intense sound of rain was again hitting against the roof. With a sound like that I knew that if I didn’t wake Kathy she could have slept the entire day.
This Heron didn't mind the rain.
Kathy had a hard time keeping her eyes open for breakfast all because of the rain. After eating we only had a short time to spend on the computers because even though we are retired if we want to accomplish anything there are places that work according to half day business hours, rain or shine on a Saturday.

The best thing we could do to protect ourselves from the weather today was to wear our raincoats. By 10:00 we were on our way out the gate heading towards Windsor with our first stop being Vehicle Venture. Our Airbags unfortunately have not arrived which means that I’ll have to work on other things until they do come in. I’m a little concerned by something that Andrew said today. I keep wanting the same Airbags that I had on the truck but he keeps saying he’s ordered an entirely new Airbag System. What concerns me is that it won’t fit my existing brackets nor connect to the suspension the same way.
Heading for the storage yard.
Our next stop was to pick up our mail at Guardian Storage. The rain seemed to be coming down harder than when we left Home. Of course when you are trying to be on a schedule and you only have one route you can take there is always something that will slow you down like a two hundred car freight train traipsing through  the city.
Train crawling along,
The socket that I got from my tool cabinet the other day didn’t have the depth I needed to do the job so another stop was made at Princess Auto. They were having an End of Summer Sale and the place was packed. That caused a slight problem but it also helped me out when someone else had just found what I was looking for on the other side of the store and told me about it.
Very wet bouncy game for the kids.
We finally arrived at Leisure Trailer Sales in Lakeshore at 11:00 and the rain was getting worse. Brad the service tech had told us the other day that there was a big sale going on, plus we also saw the advertisements for it on our local news station. We had planned on stocking up on a number of things but when we found the sale only applied to other items we cut back on our purchases. They were offering a No Tax Day on all purchases so we found a replacement screen door sliding panels that had the spring knob for releasing the screen door latches as well as a few bottles of Blue Streak which helps break down waste in our black tank.
Stair handle we hope to install in our trailer.
At 11:30 they started serving hot dogs and pop so we both enjoyed a free lunch knowing we had more errands to run. Brad had also told us about the new Jayco Northpoint trailers that had just been delivered this week and since the rain was starting to slow down a bit we decided to checked them out. None of them had the kitchen storage we have in our trailer but two of them had huge home type refrigerators with Ice Makers installed. Inside those trailers Kathy noticed they had short handrails along the stairs to the bedroom. Since she needs support for coming down the stairs we went back to the parts counter and they will try to order it for us and install it the day we leave our park.

The heavy rain seemed to be following us back to Tecumseh and the Home Hardware Building Center. With some help we found a spring loaded clothing bar that we’ll be able to use to dry some clothes in the shower. We also found a replacement Boning Knife to replace the one that seemed to vanish during our move as well as a lite-duty plastic toolbox that will be used to carry our travelling barbecue utensils.
Sanford always happy to see us.
Since we were so close and it was still raining we stopped to have a short visit with our daughter Karen before continuing over to the Zehrs grocery store on Manning Road. Whenever we are Home for any of the Canadian Holidays Kathy and I always purchase the turkey or ham for the occasion. Because we don’t have anywhere to store that kind of purchase anymore we had to wait until it was determined where the celebration was happening. So along with our regular groceries today we also managed to get a nice looking Butterball Turkey that will be the guest of honour at our upcoming Canadian Thanksgiving in a few weeks.
The rain just kept falling.
It seemed like the rain would never end and luckily our raincoats were keeping us dry. After a quick stop at Shoppers Drug Mart instead of going Home with our groceries we drove to our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s home in Amherstburg. Since Melissa had worked overtime this week we had a short visit today before finally taking off.

The hotdog we’d eaten for lunch at 11:30 was long gone and we both thought a Hawaiian Pizza from Little Caesar’s would hit the spot for supper. It took ten minutes to make the pizza and it may have only been 3:30 but we were hungry. The pizza never left the parking lot.

Back Home the rain had stopped so it didn’t take long to get things unloaded and before long everything was put away. The new screen door sliding panel was way too small to fit our door so it will be going back. Kathy worked on her computer doing her bookkeeping for our expenditures while I worked on fixing up our pill doucettes.

The weather should be nicer tomorrow so we are hoping to get more of our chores done here before we head south in six and a half weeks. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Boy, you two sure pack a lot into your days. I was hungry, tonight, too. There's a Denny's near by so I went there. For some reason I felt like I was still driving. When I got back I took a walk all around the park. I didn't realize that it's as big as it is.

  2. I laughed out loud when you said the pizza didn't leave the parking lot ... now that's hungry. How do you get so many blog followers? Is there a trick or do you just have lots of friends?
