Hot and Rainy So Ran Errands While Still Accomplishing Things.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Even after the busy day we had yesterday we both had trouble sleeping the entire night. Anything that could sneak into the calm we call sleep did which caused the on and off restlessness that would later result in sleeping way beyond our preferred time of getting out of bed.

The fact that there was only a dull grey shadow of what should have been bright sunlight even after opening all the window shades throughout the trailer did not add any exhilaration to jump start the most pressing of issues. When Kathy heard the pop of the Water Kettle while I was getting breakfast ready she soon joined me at the dining room table. During breakfast our discussion of what our plans were for the day were suddenly changed when Mother Nature started throwing wave after wave of rain against the windows.

That change of plans allowed us to relax for a short while on the computers getting caught up on some of the reading we’d missed out on the last few days. Kathy noted that some of the morning blogs we usually read daily were no longer on our sidebar. One or two might not have been a problem thinking they had just decided to take a day off but when seven were completely missing from the expanded sidebar that was a problem. I went into the layout section of the blog and all the missing blogs were still listed as blogs we follow but not on our sidebar. Rebooting the computer had no effect on the blog as a fact there were more missing from the sidebar. As a last resort to read those blogs I went through the
Hitchitch RV Forum. I was able to read those that had disappeared from our sidebar but I noticed a number of empty blocks on the forum that I presume were blogs that had suddenly just vanished. I finally Reported an Issue on Blogger in hopes that they can turn this problem around. Hopefully this is only an isolated problem but other bloggers reading this should check their sidebars to see if any blogs that they follow have suddenly disappeared. If so go into the Design section of your blog and Report the Issue to Blogger.

One of the few times we didn't get rain today.
Kathy and I had planned on doing some interior decorating but found out that we didn’t have a simple soft tool to do it with. The outside Humidex even with all the rain trying to cool things down was already 102 F (39 C) at 12:30 so it was a no brainer to leave the Air Conditioner on inside set at 79 F (26 C). We had a late lunch of chicken noodle soup and a warm cup of tea in order to take the chill out of our bones even though the old alcohol thermometer on the wall said it was 84 F (29 C) inside the trailer.

Not expecting to accomplish anything outside because of the rain we chose to run some errands. The first stop was at the Park Office where we have been paying on our electric bill a little each month so that we won’t get slammed with an outrageous amount at the end of the season. We also paid our down payment to reserve our site for when we return to Wildwood Golf and RV Park next spring.

Leaving the park, we headed to the Home Hardware Building Center in Amherstburg. I needed to purchase a drawer pull handle for the Skylight Cover I’m making to help keep the warm sunlight out of the trailer during the heat of summer and to keep the warmth in the trailer during the cold of winter. It will allow us to open it when we are awake and to close it at night so the early morning sun doesn’t wake us as soon as it rises. We also bought a cute sign that we’ll mount on our wall that says it all about our lifestyle. (Picture coming soon.)

The next stop was Walmart where Kathy had a list of groceries that we were starting to run low on. Even with their low prices we still needed to stop at Dollarama in order to fill the rest of the list. Neither of those places had a soft plastic scraper in stock so we still had to stop at Canadian Tire in order to get everything on our list.

Back Home it took a while to get everything put away and while I was chopping a sweet Watermelon Kathy had gotten at Walmart, she was busy making our supper from a chicken she had also picked up at their Deli. Topping that off with a nice salad the meal was perfect. What really made it special was when the sun started making brief appearances while we ate and finally stayed out for the last twenty minutes of the day before it set.

Tomorrow we have visitors coming and the temperature is finally going to be more reasonable. We’ll see what else we can do. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Rick. read the Bayfield Bunch blog from yesterday and today about blogs disappearing. Something to do with WordPress. May be the same thing you are experiencing.
