Adjusting to Being Fulltimers.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With the pressure of getting rid of the apartment off our minds we were finally able to relax to the point where we slept until nearly 8:00 this morning. It felt good to enjoy having that second cup of coffee something we haven’t done since the end of last week. Even with that load lifted from our shoulders as we talked at breakfast our list of things we should have just gotten rid of (STUFF) kept on growing. Only taking long enough to check the local news, weather and E-mails on the computers we were once again back to the task of organizing the trailer but not like we had in the past as a getaway home but as Our Home”.
If at all possible we hate to leave any bills outstanding and when we had come Home yesterday and found the concrete pad in place for our new shed, we knew we just had to pay for it today. When we got to the office we were given two prices and the one for cash was way cheaper. We said we’d be back later to pay it because most of our cash evaporated this weekend.

Back at Home, Kathy started reorganizing some of the many containers that had been brought to the trailer as the last load of our belongings were removed from the apartment yesterday. Those included more toiletries than we need to have on hand at any given time as well as finding a spot to store in an organized fashion all the early Cxxxxxxxs gifts that she has already wrapped.

One of the necessities that I dealt with was getting batteries installed in all the clocks, alarms and flashlights we have on board. The next thing I needed to do was to set up our Home-office. The problem was that now having more home features than ever before I had to use a couple of power bars to achieve the setup. With time we are hoping this will all change and be less complicated.

After a snack for lunch we headed to Amherstburg just to look around and to better familiarize ourselves with the town. We managed to find the laundromat that we thought we’d be using but found their prices to be high. It is fairly new but I don’t plan on paying for the place by myself. Next we found a local branch of our bank where we picked up the money for our cash transaction.

We drove over to our son Kevin’s home to pick up the shed we had stored there since we purchased it back in the beginning of March. When Kevin and I unloaded it back then we had struggled to do it. Today we didn’t hesitate to take it out of the box to load it in the bed of the truck. “Thanks again Kevin for storing it for us.”

Kathy told me the instructions to the shed had stated that I would need some clear silicone sealer so when we left Kevin’s place we drove to Canadian Tire where Kathy stayed with the truck to guard it, while I sorted through the dozens of different types of silicone available before buying just the right one.

Kathy somehow had packed away our dish soap from the apartment in the storage unit so as we drove to Walmart I spotted a Little Caesar’s. Since our lunch snack was long gone I dropped Kathy off at Walmart while I went in and ordered a medium Hawaiian pizza for our supper. I could see the truck plain as day so I could see if anyone had tried to tamper with the load. I was just getting in the truck with the pizza when Kathy arrived with a few groceries. The aroma from that fresh baked pizza was too much for our hunger and we sat right there in the truck and had our supper.

Back at Home while Kathy continued organizing things I unloaded and secured the shed so the wind would not make kites out of the panels. We are still learning the channels for our local news, the Weather Network and the few other channels we are interested in. As each day passes and we become better organized we’ll be able to start enjoying more of the benefits of our new Fulltiming Lifestyle. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Resume Blunders

One resume included drawings of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, then when we called the applicant in for an interview, his twin brother came as well. They had duplicate resumes and showed the same portfolio of work.

  4. We're still finding STUFF that we should have just gotten rid of . . . sounds like you are settling in, and I'm sure Kathy will soon get down to the business of planning next winter's travels. You'll have to let us know where you're headed.
