Apartment’s Gone And We Now Are Truly Fulltimers

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With the intention of sleeping in this morning we stayed in bed until 7:00. The desire to close up the apartment was knawing in the back of both our minds. We discussed a plan while having breakfast of how to open up additional space in the Climate Controlled Storage Unit. We have not only furniture we’ll use when the day comes to become part-time RVers again but our extra stock of toiletries and clothes we use up as needed. We only spent a few minutes checking E-mails and the weather report on the computers. Kathy continued with more organizing inside the trailer while I prepped the truck and got things looking neat outside.
By 9:00 we were at the Home Hardware in McGregor looking for a certain sized food storage container that we have been having difficulty finding. We lucked out finding two and when asked if they had more they offered to order them for us. They should arrive this Wednesday afternoon. Wow that’s what you call small town service.

Taking Walker Road north to get to the apartment we took a different backroad shortcut where we got a big surprise. We passed by a home that was under a major renovation that had enough solar power to run a small business off the grid. Someone must have gotten fed up with the rising costs of electricity.

The first thing Kathy did when we got to the apartment was to say good-bye to her fancy chair. After it was loaded in the truck we took a few minutes to deliver it to our daughter Karen’s home. Kathy had noticed one of Karen’s living room chairs looking quite worn from wear when we visited last week so we simply put it in the living room and left. Before getting to the apartment I stopped at the Beer Store to drop-off some empties.

In the apartment after disconnecting our old cable Television Controller and Internet Router I had to make a box to cover our flat screen television. Since this wasn’t the first time doing this it was ready to be transported in less than twenty minutes. Kathy was in such a rush to get everything out of the apartment that she kept stacking everything close to the door but actually directly in my path.

It was after 1:00 when we left the apartment and our first stop was at the local U-Haul where we got a refund for unused boxes we had purchased back in January. Our next stop was at Arby’s where we used a coupon and had a very late but tasty and filling lunch.

Arriving at Guardian Storage we first got our mail before going to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. When closing up yesterday we had a little problem which is what prompted our new strategy of getting rid of some of our belongings (STUFF). Today when we went to open the rollup door it barely went up a foot before jamming. Looking under the door I noted our box-spring and mattress had fallen against the door spool. I belly crawled under the door in order to fix the problem. (Made me feel like I was working again.) We spent the next two hours moving a lot of things in order to remove two pieces of furniture and rearranging the one side of the unit. Now we have lots of space with no chance of the same problem happening again.

With only the furniture loaded in the truck we first stopped at the Pioneer gas station and topped off the fuel. Next we were on our way up Jefferson Avenue when only two hundred feet from the intersection I applied my signal to turn. When I did that a woman fifty feet from the intersection pulls out right in front of me. Jefferson Avenue now has dually brake marks on the pavement and when we stopped only two feet from her driver’s door she gives me the finger. Where did she learn to drive?

We stopped at Value Village where we donated the Bookcase and Computer Desk we had taken from our storage unit. They were more than willing to take them as we peeled the saran wrap from them. I even helped them reassemble the shelves on the desk before we left.

At the apartment it took less than a half hour to finish loading everything in the truck. We officially handed in our keys at 4:30 and said our goodbyes to Dan and Chris.

We now had to stop at the local Cogeco cable outlet at the Devonshire Mall to hand in the Television Controllers and Internet Router. Kathy stayed with the truck to make certain nobody decided they needed our things more than we did. With three people ahead of me I was out in about twenty minutes with a receipt of return.

We made a quick stop at the trailer where we unloaded a huge load of Cxxxxxxxs gifts and a few other things. We noticed out concrete pad for our shed had been delivered as well as the picnic table and fire ring.

We were now on our way to Amherstburg where our first priority was to have supper. It was 6:00 when we pulled into Subway where using a coupon we enjoyed a satisfying meal at a reduced price.

We arrived at Kevin and Melissa’s house around 6:30 where Kevin and I unloaded the utility cart and appliance while Kathy started visiting with Melissa. We also dropped off our two office chairs that we had used at the computers. One went directly to our grandson Matthew’s room where he had been using a stool when working at his computer. We had a pleasant visit where Melissa served us veggies and dip as a healthier See Food Diet.

It was just after 8:00 when we were on our way home (Yes the trailer is now our home) when Kathy remembered we needed some bread and few other things. Turning around we were at Walmart in less than five minutes. We were about to leave when who should walk in but Kevin and Melissa who also needed some supplies.

We arrived home by 9:00 and moments later the phone was ringing. It was our daughter Karen calling to say she saw that the “Chair Fairy” had been to her house. She really appreciated the gift and plans to rearrange her living room tomorrow after work.

Now that we are done with the apartment we can begin to relax and start enjoying our Fulltiming Lifestyle. Our first priority will be to get our RV organized.  Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
