We Were Hacked.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We seemed more relaxed and able to sleep the second night spent with our folded bedsheet as a room darkening curtain. We even managed to sleep in until 8:00 this morning but when we woke we were ready to start making more progress towards our Fulltiming Adventure. Once breakfast and our morning reading was finished we teamed together packing two more boxes that will find their way to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. Even though those boxes were well packed they were far from full and the cupboards were not quite empty but we still have to eat some meals here. The time used to do this today will not have to be wasted on our final day in the apartment.
With all that completed before 11:00 Kathy busied herself in the kitchen baking Muffins and Cookies that she had purchased mixes for and did not want to bring small partially full packages to the trailer. I busied myself adding our new Norton Anti-Virus to our computers figuring that using our unlimited WiFi connection made more sense than overloading our limited MiFi once we are in the trailer. That was a wise choice because for the next few hours we’d have no use to our computers.
When the same fault appeared on our new laptops that are barely two and two and a half months old I called tech support. Marc found that both computers that had McAfee Antivirus were having the same problems and had caused our computers to upload a ton of Errors. It was finally determined that the Errors were being imported by someone that was using our modem for free internet. We have a secure modem but we had been Hacked and for quite some time. Luckily both our computers are still under warrantee with Microsoft but we needed more protection than what the Antivirus would give us. I had an Internet Modem Security added to both computers which will protect them not only on our secure connections but if we are traveling we can use unsecured connections worry-free along the way. It was nearly 1:00 by the time we had a short lunch but the computers were still being worked on remotely. It was nearly 2:30 by the time we were able to get back to using our machines but they are working much faster with no hesitations.
We had a number of phone calls to make and it was nearly 4:00 by the time I checked our downstairs mailbox. Was it any surprise that I found coupons for Subway inside. We have plans to accomplish things tomorrow along with an appointment but it is all looking good for being on schedule to our Fulltiming Adventure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

We can't wait to be

  1. Someone hacked our MIFI once at a campground. I actually was able to find out who it was. Our password was really unique, but he told Paul he had a program he bought off the Internet that could hack passwords. He was right. He promised not to do it again. We changed our password, and he kept to his word.

  2. Being hacked is no fun. One of the first things I did when I bought my new computer was get rid of McAfee. On a limited connection, the last thing I want is a program that constantly downloads stuff.

  3. I found it cheaper to use the Hotspot on my phone than the MIFI.
