Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
We needed
to run the cube heater again last night from the safety of the stove top. As we
sat bundled up as if we’d just completed an Arctic trek having our breakfast this
morning we knew that it wasn’t a day that we wanted to be working outside but
once we saw the weather report on the computer we knew that we had to.
Mother Robin was very upset that we put our shed so close to her nest. |
Kathy finished
a few inside chores before joining me and when she came outside to join me I heard
the distinctive sound of an electronic shutter taking pictures. It has been a
while since we’ve gotten fresh pictures so we have really been trying to
document the changes we’ve been going through in our new Fulltiming
Lifestyle. I continued adding the roof panels to the shed until I was on
such uneven ground that I needed Kathy to stabilize the ladder so I could
finish the rear of the roof. That was when I noticed the number of Robin’s eggs
in the nest directly behind the shed. When I applied the last fastener I had
her pass me the small point and shoot camera so I could take a picture but when
I previewed the shot the message “Unable to Save”
flashed on the screen. That’s when it dawned on me that I hadn’t replaced the
SD card after uploading yesterday’s pictures. That’s when Kathy got upset
because she’d taken pictures of birds, budding flowers, me working and they
were all gone. I’ve read of a lot of other people making the same mistake so I didn’t
let it bother me too much. She retrieved the card and I was able to see the
inside of the nest much better. It was 1:00 by the time we stopped for lunch
but we didn’t dawdle inside because the sky was starting to change outside. We were
finally finished by 3:00 which included installing a shelving unit inside we
had brought from the apartment.
Just about done the roof. |
At that
point we had more errands to run such as dropping off more garbage and recycle
at the park’s Trash and Recycle
center. Another trip was made to the McGregor
Home Hardware to return the leftover Tapcon screws. Kathy
also wanted to get one more Emerald Cedar to create a more natural privacy
curtain behind our site but this time we headed to the Canadian Tire in Amherstburg.
Need another piece. |
By the
time we got there the rain was coming down fairly steady but we were lucky
enough that they also had the same shrubs on Sale for the same price of $30.00.
We also searched for larger decorative pots to put them in so they would still
be stable but allowing the shrubs room for some growth.
Drilling a hole for the bottom latch. |
We got
the plant but had to go to Walmart
for the pots and potting soil but they had no stone for the bottom of the pot.
That would have to come from the local building supply store.
Adjusting the door latch. |
We
stopped at Kevin and Melissa’s where we
had a very short visit and we picked up the pressure washer so we can clean up
the picnic table that had been brought to our site. Melissa also gave Kathy a
bag that when it was later opened contained a birthday gift to each of us. Thank
you Melissa for always being so thoughtful and caring.
Our new on site storage shed where can leave things when we are away. |
At the Amherstburg Home Hardware Building Center we
picked up a nice stain we’ll use to put on the picnic table once it has been
cleaned along with a couple of bags of gravel for inside the decorative pots
for our privacy curtain.
It was
past 6:00 by the time we got back to the park so we simply went to the 19th Hole restaurant to have
supper. The place was packed and the service was slower than last week but the
food was still top notch.
The rain
is still falling fairly steady and should stop by lunchtime tomorrow. We’re
sure we’ll find something to get into. Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
