Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
This morning
when we first got up we were both still feeling tired but not as chilled as
when we had gone to bed last night. We cheated and left the electric cube
heater all night safely positioned on top of the stove in the kitchen. The dry
heat helped take some of the humidity from the air making it so we weren’t
sitting at the breakfast table shivering from the cold temperatures.
Today was
Kathy’s birthday so after breakfast and getting caught up on the blogs we
follow (All of our sidebar.) we started planning where we needed to go
this afternoon. We actually wrote a list of all the places we needed to go and
what we needed to do at those places.
After having
eaten a light lunch we loaded the truck with things that are no longer needed at
the trailer. Our first stop was in the park itself at the Trash and Recycling Center where it is well
organized and there are no odors caused by the trash.
Heading
out the gate our next stop was the McGregor Home
Hardware where Kathy purchased a couple of the smaller sized food
storage containers that she finds so handy because they are stackable and don’t
waste precious space in the cupboards.
Next we
stopped at Sun Parlour Trailer where I
unloaded RV Parts that are still in good to perfect condition that I have
changed on our trailer. Instead of throwing them in the trash they find a new life
in an RV that has been traded in and needs some quick fixes. In exchange Rob
gives me discounts on my purchases.
Since we
were so close we drove back to our son Kevin’s
home in Amherstburg. Being
that he wasn’t there yesterday to drop off more things that we’ll no longer be
needing. He and Melissa use what they need and pass the rest on to others who
might need them. Even though we donate a lot of STUFF to charitable
organizations it’s still nice to help out family.
We then
had to drove all the way back to Windsor
where our first stop was the Wholesale Club.
We picked up more cough drops and even a few other things at a lower price than
even at the Dollar Store.
The next
stop was at Home Depot where Kathy was
looking for things to spruce up our campsite to give it a more of a homey feel.
I was there to get some bricks to place around the fire ring and the plywood
for the floor of the shed we are building. Luckily I was able to have the
plywood cut to the exact size at no additional costs which will also be a time
saver for me.
After fastening
down our load we drove to the Provincial Road
Nursery. Kathy wanted to accomplish some privacy at the rear of our
site similar to what other sites had done by using potted trees or grasses. She
inquired which would be the hardiest and would survive the winter season in the
pots. The Emerald Cedar was the one most highly recommended but were on the
expensive side at $80.00 apiece. With the excuse the back of the truck was full
we left without a purchase.
We had to
drive north on Walker Road but by the time we reached County Road 42 we were
detoured into bumper to bumper traffic due to a traffic accident. A semi had
been making a turn when a number of automobiles ended under the trailer.
Emergency personnel on the scene did not seem to be hurrying. We’ll find out
more on the late News.
We
finally arrived at Guardian Storage where
we collected a pile of mail from our mailbox.
We then drove back to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit where we
shopped for things that we needed at the trailer and left behind things that we
didn’t need at the trailer. If this keeps happening, we might even see some
bare spots.
We then
had to go to the Credit Union where Kathy
went in to do some banking.
Across
the road we went to Walmart because Kathy
needed to make an exchange but we ran into Moe who I worked with for over
thirty years in the trades. Since his wife Sherri was still in the store we met
for pop at the instore McDonalds. The
last time we’d seen them last summer Fulltiming hadn’t even crossed our
minds. They were amazed and happy that we were doing this. We spent nearly an
hour getting caught up on a number of different things. After Moe and Sherri
left we checked out the nursery items Walmart had in stock and didn’t find
anything that interested us.
It was
nearly 5:00 so we had planned on having supper at the Michigan Dinner on Manning Road but
when we arrived the parking lot was full and people were standing outside. I dropped
Kathy at the door but by the time I circled the building without finding a
place to park she was already outside saying it would be a long wait. It was
nearly 5:30 by the time we had driven back to their Tecumseh Road location
where we enjoyed our usual Fish and Chip dinners that the local chain is famous
for.
We had a
7:00 appointment but were too early and we wanted to walk off our supper so we
stopped at Canadian Tire. Before going
in the store we noticed a lot of potted trees that looked familiar. They were the
same Emerald Cedars that we’d seen at the Nursery and they were priced at
$50.00 which was a better deal but when we moved a couple there was another
sign saying they were on Sale for $30.00 apiece. It didn’t take long to find a
couple of shopping baskets and purchase the shrubs of our choice. Remember the
back of the truck being full as an excuse, it didn’t take long to rearrange it
either.
One more
stop was at our daughter Karen’s home
where she had a small cake and some flowers in celebration of Kathy’s birthday.
We were there well over an hour for a short but pleasant visit.Kathy cutting her birthday cake and Karen serving it with Ice Cream. |
It was dark by the
time we got Home we immediately
turned the electric heater on and started getting ready for bed from a very
tiring day. Now if you counted that was seventeen stops today. Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
