Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
It felt
so wonderful waking up in the trailer for the first time after nearly an eleven-month
absence. We had no problem what so ever falling asleep last night because we
were both so wiped out from yesterday’s exertion. Somehow deep in the back of
our minds we knew that the job wasn’t finished and we were both wide awake by
7:00 this morning. After eating our breakfast, we did take a few minutes to
check E-mails and truly appreciated the comments of encouragement that
we were receiving. The idea of getting out of the apartment early was in part due
to the upcoming weather forecasts and they are not looking that good for the next
week. We also didn’t want to kill ourselves rushing to clean up the apartment
within a couple of days.
While Kathy
organized a few things on the inside of the trailer I was outside taking the
fifth wheel hitch out of the truck. We had to do more hauling today but in
order to maximize our load such things had to be done. We had driven out of the
park before we realized we’d forgotten our insulated shopping bags for
transferring the food from the apartment fridge. As reported yesterday the
trailer fridge does work on electric so we’ll just have get the propane part
working before we go anywhere.
At the
apartment we gathered the linens and towels that we’d used the last few days
and I brought them down to the laundry room. Kathy and I worked together to wrap up the mattress
and box spring before going back to start drying only some of the linens. The machines
in the laundry room do not use coins but an electronic card that you apply
monies to use. The minimum you can add to the card was way more than we needed
to add. The company only services apartment buildings and would not refund
unused monies on the card so we simply used as much off the card as possible
and would later bring the rest of the linens to a laundromat to dry.
It was
time to start hauling boxes and containers to the truck but by that time it was
past noon and we were tired and hungry. We chose to walk over to the nearby
restaurant called the Spitfire Pub.
(We’ve lived here for nearly five years and this was our first visit.) The
food, service and cost were all great and we actually started feeling human
again after eating.
Back to
work it didn’t take long to load the truck with all the containers and boxes
then Kathy helped guide me with the box spring to add to the load. Because of
the weight of our mattress I asked Chris the assistant manager to help me load
that and he was more than happy to do it.
It was
nearly 2:30 by the time we reached Guardian
Storage due to a train blocking the tracks for nearly a half hour
and then the front gate pad would not open the gate. Luckily we have a remote
gate opener that opened the larger service gate. Not only did we add more to
our Climate Controlled Storage Unit today we also needed to take things
out that we’d accidentally packed away.
It was
past 5:00 by the time we finished there and once again we needed to stop to get
something to eat. We stopped at Burger King
where we each had a chicken sandwich and small smoothie for our supper. We made
a quick stop before 6:00 at Canadian Tire
before returning to the apartment.
When we
left the apartment we had our bicycles and the only room with anything left to
clean out is the living room and most of it we won’t be keeping. Kathy swept all
the other rooms clean and emptied the fridge. We stopped at a laundromat and
got the remaining linens dried before heading back to our trailer.
Tomorrow we’ll
finally be rid of the apartment and not have to worry about being out for the
end of the month. We’ll also be able to start enjoying our Fulltime Lifestyle
more. Thanks for
following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
