Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario,
Canada.
We both
seemed to struggle to get out of bed by 8:00 this morning but yet it seemed
that the sun was peaking along the edges of the drapery and inviting us to a
beautiful day. When we opened the curtains we quickly learned that it was all a
lie. The little bit of light that was penetrating through the cloud cover was being
reflected off a fresh dusting of snow. This is the beginning of April and it is
supposed to be spring but even the Weather Network was saying how deceitful
the temperatures across the continent are compared to where they are supposed
to be.
Once we’d
finished breakfast and the dishes Kathy immediately set up the Crock Pot
to cook supper for this evening before even going to do her morning reading. I
had my chores to do as well as making the bed and getting dressed and ready for
our expected guest. Shortly after 10:00 Bill the gentleman who purchased
our Upright Freezer showed up appearing to feel the same about the
weather as Kathy and I felt. Luckily we still have the utility cart at the
apartment which helped to make the chore of bringing it downstairs to his truck
an easier task.
As soon
as he had gone Kathy and I were out the door to do a couple of errands. The
first was across the street to the Post Office
to mail a letter. The next stop was to Zehrs
grocery store on Manning Road. We
were starting to run low on the necessities, bread and milk as well as a few
other extras. We are amazed at the supper high prices of fruits vegetables and meats.
Seeing prices that high only reinforced what we and others have said in their own
blogs that sometimes especially when you have coupons it doesn’t pay to eat at
home. The only advantage is that you know what you are eating and you know it
is not plastered with Salt or cooked in lots of Fat.
After
lunch Kathy busied herself wrapping some early Christmas
gifts that we have already been purchasing. Due to our celebrating Christmas and the Canadian Thanksgiving together starting this
year with our families she had to start shopping earlier. She always puts
special thought into personalizing the gifts for everyone so it is a lengthy
process. By wrapping them early eliminates having to hide things when we have
unexpected company drop in for a visit. Myself I was busy doing the laundry. With
the constant change in the outside temperatures it is really reflected in the
different types of clothing we wear. We were sitting down to enjoy the meal
that had been cooking for us throughout the day by 5:30 and it was delicious.
We are
very lucky to live in an area of Canada
that is kiddingly referred to as the “Florida of
Canada.” The last three years that we were away this area got
hammered with lots of snow and bitterly cold temperatures. This year well
preparing for our Fulltiming Adventure we’ve had some light snow and
some cold temperatures but not like the last few years. Nature was being kind
to us this year. This area is presently among many being affected by a Polar
Vortex and doesn’t seem to want to truly embrace the thought that it is Spring.
The weather guessers are forecasting another blanket of white by the morning and
higher amounts for areas further north.
We are
both looking forward to warmer temperatures with less than three weeks to starting
our Fulltiming Adventure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
Soon the Great Lakes
will be filled with
personal watercrafts.
