Even though it didn’t appear that we did very much on the weekend, there were a lot of little things that came to my attention throughout the night. Why is it that my mind insists on solving the world problems, when it should be allowing me to sleep and my body to recharge. Strangely, I woke up feeling refreshed and rested.
After opening the Balcony Blinds it was still dark enough some low lighting was needed to get things ready to serve for breakfast. With a quick check of The Weather Network, I knew better that to expect much of the day. Having reordered the Big Lake Sinner book from Amazon on Friday, I wanted to see its delivery progress. Was I surprised to see it had gone from being “Ordered”, all the way to being “Out for Delivery”.
Figuring that I might have kept Kathy awake part of the night, I didn’t turn on the lights until I heard her moving around in the bedroom. The Clouds were hanging around but allowing us to stay dry.
It
wasn’t until we finished our Cereal
that we took out hot drinks over to the Computers.
I barely sat down when my phone started ringing. Even though there
was no Caller
ID,
Kathy insisted I answer. There was so much static on the line I almost hung up, but
the
caller had
blurted
out my name. He was looking for our Mailing
Address,
but the numbers kept going up. It was a Delivery
Service, and I had to tell him to turn around to head in the other direction.
(I always thought they used GPSs.)
When he finally crossed the Railroad
Tracks,
I told him he was only a minute away from
the Office
building.
I
waited nearly Ten
Minutes
before Melissa from Guardian
Storage
called to say we had a Package.
It was a good thing it was not Mailed, or it could be after the New
Year
before we would
get
it, because the Postal
Workers
are still “On
Strike.”
Not knowing how long we would be gone, we decided to share a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for lunch before going.
After the Dishes were cleaned up, we headed out the door. There was a Southwest breeze keeping the temperature at 50 F (10 C).
Heading down Riverside Drive, it was non-stop all the way to Jefferson Avenue. It is such a relief having little traffic to deal with.
At Guardian Storage, Kathy insisted I go in, because the last time the Temps asked her for Identification to get the last Package. Melissa said she called as soon as she had this Package, and the Delivery Vehicle had sat at the Semi Entrance to the yard for over Five Minutes before driving to the Office. (They need to better train new employees.) I tore open the Package to be sure the right book had been sent out this time.
We didn’t need groceries but since it was so early, decided to walk around the Tecumseh Mall for some exercise. Kathy decided to walk around the Dollarama inside. Though we had not brought a list, we suddenly found a number of things that came home with us. I’ve mentioned how every outlet is Independently Owned, and they sometimes carry things other outlets don’t have. This store had things we’ve been searching for since the start of Summer. That long!
We no sooner got back to the Car when Kathy said she was hungry. It was only Four Hours earlier that we had eaten lunch, so we drove across to Wendy’s. We were satisfied, but not stuffed when we left.
The Weather Guesser on the 6 o’clock Local News, took the wind out of our sails when his forecast showed the weekend and beyond topping off below the Freezing Mark.
We watched a Hallmark Christmas Movie along with a Murder Mystery this evening.
