Almost as if an Alarm had gone off I woke exactly at 8:00 this morning followed shortly after by Kathy. Opening the Balcony Blinds it appeared that we were looking at the same sky we did yesterday. Cereal was our breakfast and we were soon having our Coffee/Tea at the Computers. When the Second Cup started to brew I took advantage of getting my inside chores completed.
By 11:30 we were busy putting together our lunch. I was busy making the Chicken Noodle Soup and Tea while Kathy was putting together our dessert plate. I often comment how we try different ready made foods and if they work out could be on our short list of things to have on standby. We picked up a small Eight Inch Single Layer Chocolate Cake to try. It was double wrapped in a plastic tray with a Cardboard Form to keep it round. The problem was when Kathy tried removing the Cardboard Form before cutting it. Even though it was tasty it looked like anything other then a piece of Cake. We’ll try it another time.
Kathy decided to stay home when I headed out the door minutes after 12:00. According to the E-mailed Confirmation we had an appointment to have the Car serviced at 12:30 at the Rose City Ford Dealership today. I was able to drive right in to the Service Manager’s Bay where there were already 5 People waiting to talk to the Lone Service Manager because everyone else was on lunch break. Most were wearing Masks as they attempted to Social Distance in the process. For Twenty Minutes the line didn’t move except to grow in length. One of those ahead of me got upset about that and walked out just before the guy at the desk finally decided to leave. The next two women were just their to pick up their vehicles and the guy in front of me didn’t know he was supposed to drive his Car up to the desk. Before I finished signing in there were Eight more people standing behind me.
Since it would be nearly an Hour before the Car would be ready I walked to the Walmart down the road to look for the Flower Pot Rack that Kathy was interested in. Even though they were quite well advertised On-Line none of the Associates knew anything about them in the store.
Heading back in the direction of the Dealership I stopped in at Home Depot to check what they had. They did have one that was made of heavy gauged metal that they must have been selling by the pound because not only was it heavy but expensive as well.
With the sky being filled with Black Clouds I was starting to wonder if I’d make it back to the dealership dry. It’s been years since I last looked at the price of New Pickups. Some of the F-150s were priced higher then we paid for our Dually. I did feel a couple drops before I got in the door but that was the last of it.
Our Car ready for me to drive away.
With more time to wait while sitting outside at a Picnic Table I began talking to a gentleman from LaSalle who was also getting his car serviced. He has owned a Class A, Class C and now owns a Rialta that he uses on short excursions during the summer. He was impressed about our spending time “Off the Grid”.

It was nearly 2:30 when I got back to the Apartment. Kathy had cleaned the Dishes, done a little reading but because her Sinuses were bothering her ended up having a Snap to ease the Headache she had gotten. When I told her the results about the Flower Pot Rack she went On-Line, located and purchased it at a reasonable price. It will be delivered to our Mailing Address soon.
Since we needed to pick up our Prescriptions in Amherstburg today we decided to take the Truck since it has been sitting for quite some time.
The new reality at Drive-Thrus.
We also needed to have supper so we stopped at Wendy’s where we enjoyed our Chicken Wraps and Seniors Sodas for just over Five Dollars.
We were soon headed down the Expressway towards our destination. We were once again reminded that we were in the Road Construction Season.
It was nearly 6:00 when we arrived at Pharma Choice in Amherstburg and within minutes we had our Prescriptions. I was speaking with Steve our Pharmacist who we’ve become friends with. Everyone knows how news travels fast in small communities. I’ve been blogging about how the Virus has been spreading through the Migrant Farm Workers out in the County. The One Farmer who has the highest numbers of Workers infected with the Virus is not allowed to let them go into Leamington to do their own shopping so he is busing them to Amherstburg so they can shop and spread the Virus there. Just what we need.
After not visiting face to face since the beginning of March we stopped at our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house for a visit. We sat outside in the screened in patio and Melissa who has been working from home for the last Three Months made certain we had a Vegetable Plate to snack on. This visit was however Twofold as it was also grandson Matthew’s 18th Birthday. It was also the night of his On-Line Graduation from Grade Twelve. He’ll be happy to see the Barbers reopen so he can get a Haircut before he looks for a job.
We left shortly after 8:00 and went to the local Dollarama where we found the Flowerpot like the one Kathy had been looking for. Like I mentioned the before not all the stores carry the same stock.
It was after 9:00 by the time we got back to the Apartment. The Truck ran flawlessly without the need to even Regenerate. We’ve got more to do tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I've got to say, you really had a long full day, from start to finish.

  2. Yup ... long day. I looked into a new truck. The price of my 3/4 ton has gone up $25,000 in ten years. That pretty much makes that $65,000 truck no longer affordable. That more than my first house cost!!

  3. We have thought about a new truck. But our 2011 F350 King Ranch dually does just fine. That cost enough. And now we have our Ford Escape too. We have not had car or truck payments in over 20 years. Not going to start now.

Yeah, you did have a long, busy day.

  4. Wow what a busy day. Good thing you did not get that metal flower pot as I think that the metal would heat the sol and bake the roots of the plant. Special congrats to your grandson on turning 18 and and graduating. Love his smile.

  6. You certainly got a lot accomplished today. I am envious of your rain clouds we are in dire need of some precipitation.

The local Toyota dealership is offering half-price oil changes but I am too scared to go...besides I have driven so few miles in the past three months.

Happy belated birthday to your grandson.

  7. Happy Birthday Matthew! You did have a busy day, but a good one it sounds like. So sad for these high school seniors this year, what should have been their best year of school turned out to be nothing like they expected :(
