Early Exercising, Doctor’s Appointment and Following The Plan.

As mentioned in last night’s Blog to was going to be very busy. Once it was published we had a chance to make a Plan on how to make it work. We managed to get to bed before midnight with the Plan that I would be heading to the Gym after I woke up in the morning. That would be good in theory unless you spend most of the night tossing and turning like I did.
Our Sunrise this morning.
Waking one final time just before 6:30 I chose to start my day and by the time I had a snack it wasn’t until 7:00 that I arrived at Planet Fitness. Since they are open 24-7 it was not surprising how many people were already there. I was able to get through my Cardio Warm-up with no problem. When I started doing the Free Weights there were so many using them I had to step up the amount of weight that I was using for the first Two Sets but it was wearing me down quickly. Fortunately I was able to go back down to the normal weight that I’m used to for my Third Set.
One problem with working out early in the morning is that you haven’t consumed enough energy by that time of day. I only managed to get Ten Minutes in my final Cardio Workout when I had to call it a day.

Imagine Kathy’s surprise when I walked in the Apartment at 10:30. She was up by 8:00 and had already been cleaning the Apartment. I took a bit of time to shave before settling down at the Computer.
For lunch Kathy made Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Coleslaw along with a Bosc Pear and Chocolate Cupcake for dessert.
We were out the door before 1:30 heading across Riverside Drive until we turned south on Walker Road. Twenty Minutes later we were arriving at the Gastroenterology Office. While Kathy sat reading her book I filled out my forms.

Back in 2013 my Family Doctor was surprised that I had never been screened for Colon Cancer in the Ten Years that I should have. At the Gastroenterology Office my risk as a 61 Year Old White Male with moderate risk suddenly jumped when it was mentioned that my Father had died from Colon Cancer. After the Hereditary Card was played then I was asked what my Career had been before retirement. As a Welder my risk rose a bit more but what type of welding did I do. The more I explained the many different welding processes I used the higher my risk rose. In the end the Doctor had never dealt with someone with such a High Risk.

The results of my first Colonoscopy that was scheduled within Two Days was the removal of a couple of Two Centimetre Precancerous Polyps. Alarms went off meaning I had to go through the process again in 2015 as an extended precaution. The results of the second Colonoscopy that took a week to schedule was a single One Centimetre Precancerous Polyp. Now it’s time to be certain that I don’t follow in my father’s footsteps. With an increase of patients requiring preventative testing the earliest my procedure is now scheduled for early April.
My message is with everything that is going on around us don’t ignore getting Regular Medical Exams with your Family Doctor. It may save your life. I believe mine did.
We stopped at Guardian Storage where we again collected our Mail.
From there we stopped at Motor City Community Credit Union to pick up a roll of Loonies ($1.00 Coins) for our laundry. It took some time to do such a simple transaction.
We swung around to Dollarama where we gathered a few supplies that are far less expensive then at the grocery stores.
Finally we went to the Zehr’s grocery store where we needed to get a few more supplies to see us through the weekend.

Back at the Apartment it didn’t take long before Kathy started making Perogies for supper with Frozen Yogurt for a dessert. We watched the 6 o’clock Local News before watching an episode of Law and Order. When that ended we were surprise to see Three different Networks talking about the Coronavirus. If this keeps up seeing your Family Doctor might be a bad thing.
Today's Sunset behind the Clouds
Surprisingly we accomplished everything we planned to do today. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Since I can not go to sleep decided to watch the rebroadcast of the CNN Global Town Hall on Coronavirus as I missed it during its regular airing time.

I am now scared to go to the doctor's office and catch something. Even with this virus I am still shocked that people young and old do not cover their mouth when they cough.

  2. Sometimes I think the news media should just stay out of the health arena. They seem to panic everyone with their stories every time something like this comes along. Most likely less people will die from this than die from the regular flu every year. Learn the symptoms, wash your hands, stay home if you can. It's a good thing you went to the doctor ... you may have saved your life!!

  4. Colon cancer screening is a must, especially with your history. I'm a firm believer in regular checkups. Always feels good to get everything done you plan to do for the day.

  5. We at risk folks are lucky these procedures are so readily available. There is no excuse for not getting screened other than being a scaredy cat. My sister and brother won't go for colonoscopy because they are squeemish! Our family is plagued with all the awful bowel diseases. You'd think they would GO.

  6. Sounds like a good day and with the history good idea to get tested for sure.
