Problem Solved, Saving Money On Food and Spring Has Sprung A Leak.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

After getting up so early yesterday we had no problems getting to bed early last night and staying asleep until after 8:00 this morning. Looking out the Balcony Door told us that it was a typical Spring Day which was fitting considering that this is the first day of Spring. The entire sky was filled with Clouds which did not encourage us to get our walking shoes on and hit the Trail.
Once our Muffin Breakfast was over we headed to the Computers. Checking The Weather Network on the Computer confirmed that those Clouds would be giving us plenty of Precipitation later in the afternoon.

Since all the Gyms across the city are closed until further notice in an attempt to stop the spread of the Coronavirus I needed to find a way to exercise. Many comments have suggested everything from using Books to Canned Goods for Weights but I have a pair of Twenty-Five Pound Dumbbells here that have travelled with us in our Trailer. Even though I use heavier weights at the Gym all I need to do is increase the number of Repetitions or Sets to accomplish the same workout. The problem is accomplishing the position needed for the different exercises but there is a simple solution to that. When we moved from our house to the Tecumseh Apartment I had an Exercise Bench that was placed in our Storage Unit when we went Fulltime. Guess where we were going today.
It was just past 11:30 when we started getting things ready for an early lunch. Trying to keep our intake down as well as trying to stretch our food stocks we tried a packet of Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup that we kept on hand for emergencies. It will do in a pinch but we prefer our own Soup. Kathy put together a dessert plate of a Clementine Oranges, a couple of Cookies and Yogurt Cups.
We were heading out the door shortly after noon in hopes of beating the forecasted Rain. The first place we went was Guardian Storage where we first collected our Mail before heading back to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. Luckily the way we set it up it took little time to reach the Exercise Bench along the back wall of the unit. We also gathered a few containers of Food from the Trailer Pantry that we had yet to bring to the Apartment. With that loaded in the Car we drove over to where the Trailer is parked. I climbed on the roof to make certain the seals on all the joints was holding up as well that the Solar Panels were still holding solid. Then I went inside to check that everything was sound with no signs of any leaks. It felt good to be Home.
We did stop at Dollarama to pick up a few supplies. One of those was Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for a Dollar a box along with a loaf of Bread for Two Dollars. Buying the Macaroni and Cheese at the grocery store costs Two Dollars a box while a loaf of Bread is over Three Dollars. We’ll save our money as best as we can.
We got everything upstairs in the Apartment shortly after 3:00. I cleaned up a Celery Root so that Kathy could start cooking it. She managed to boil it but when she went to get the Breading she couldn’t find any in our Cupboards. After checking what was in the Fridge she put the Celery Root away for one of tomorrow’s meals and brought out the Leftover Spanish Rice for a side with Perogies for our supper. It all tasted delicious.
We worked together cleaning up the Dishes and had everything put away before heading out the door just after 5:00. Our destination was our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s home in Amherstburg. It rained quite steady the entire trip so we didn’t arrive until after 6:00. Like many other workplaces Melissa was notified today that she will start working from home tomorrow as a way of reducing the risk of being contaminated with the Coronavirus. Her dad Al is still adjusting to life without Sally since her passing. Both Cameron and Matthew had their Winter Breaks extended by Two Weeks until the second week in April. We all agreed that we hope the Coronavirus clears up soon.

We left for home shortly after 8:00 but because it Rained the entire way it was after 9:00 by the time we got back to the Apartment. We’ll be watching the 11 o’clock Local News. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. You all run many errands daily. I was wondering if you are taking precautions like wearing a mask and plastic gloves when you go shopping or are around strangers like inside grocery stores?

    1. No but we use hand sanitizer and stay away from others as much as we can. They have a senior hour at our grocery store only seniors allowed in after that anybody else can go in.

  3. I don't think I've ever seen celery root in our markets. I'll have to pay closer attention when we actually HAVE vegetables again!! Good score on the Mac N Cheese!
