When
we got up at 8:00 this morning we were delighted that the overnight
Rain had finally stopped and even though the Sun was
hiding behind the Clouds the ground was starting to dry up.
Breakfast was a smaller sized bowl of Cereal since we’d
finished the Muffins over a Three Day period. We still
took the time to have our Coffee/Tea at the Computers
while checking Messages and The
Weather Network.
We
had everything cleaned up shortly after I moved our Truck to
the Overflow Parking area and had
just sat down for a moment when our Good Friend Vera arrived
for a scheduled visit. Most that have followed us for some time will
remember that Vera had a fall in her apartment last summer that
resulted in her breaking both her Right Wrist and Right Ankle. Kathy and I visited her many times while she recovered but
were already south of the border by the time she was finally
released. Those that followed our adventures back in the Summer of 2012 will also remember Vera and her husband Bill travelling out
to Wyoming with us for Three Weeks. Unfortunately
Bill her husband of 52 Years passed away on February 4 while we were away.

We
had a wonderful visit and surprised her with a couple of small gifts
since we were not here at Christmas
last year. It put a smile on her face for at least a few minutes.
Anyone that has ever lost a Loved One especially a Spouse
smiling is not something you do often. It almost makes you feel
guilty when you do something so natural because your partner is no
longer there to share the moment with you.
Around
12:30 we headed off to the Michigan Dinner
in Essex to have
lunch. Of course the Rain started again. This was a belated
Birthday Dinner for the both of us as well as a Thank You
for all the meals we smuggled to her while she was recovering in the
Windsor Rehabilitation Center.
The
talking never stopped which was good for Vera. It sounded similar to
a session in Bereavement Counselling that we had both gone
through after loosing our former spouses. It helped Vera to vent her
feelings of frustration and to learn that what she was going through
is totally normal in the Grieving Process.
It
was after 2:00 when we got back Home and Vera decided she
needed to head for home as well. She is slowly going through the
process of purging Bill’s Clothes and other Things in
the apartment as she intends to move to a smaller place.
With
the Rain increasing its intensity we got caught up on our
reading at the Computers that we missed this morning. We kept
at it until we decided to have a bowl of Vegetable Beef Soup
for supper along with a Pineapple covered Cottage Cheese
dish for a dessert around 6:30.
We
then decided to watch the movie “Sleepless”
starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan. It
was nearly Non-Stop
Action
from the beginning to the end. Lots
of violence but it is another movie that gets Two
Thumbs Up.
Even
though it has been raining fairly steady all afternoon the Wind
has
only been gusting to 25
MPH.
We are supposed to have better but cooler weather tomorrow so we are
going to try to get things done around our Site.
Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

It's always nice to catch up with good friends after a long absence. Also nice to let them know you understand what they are feeling and going through.
ReplyDeleteSeems we are still seeing crazy weather everywhere. It's nice you took the time to visit Vera. That means a lot to us single folk.
ReplyDeleteIt seem like sometimes our purpose in life is to help others and we gladly do it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy and Rick for being a couple of those people.

I'm glad it appears Vera is doing well considering it's been a short time. She has a beautiful smile! Soup looks like a warm wonderful dinner!
ReplyDeleteHappy you were able to get together with your friend and bring a smile to her face. I am sure it meant a lot to her during this difficult episode in her life.
