This
past year when the Hard-Drive on this Computer was
replaced the Tech was not able to save Operating Programs
such as Microsoft Office which for the last few years you
have to purchase with each Computer. Instead they installed
Libre Office Writer which is a
Free Version of Word and Excel. It works but not
to the level of Microsoft which
you can truly depend on. I used Microsoft
to create many Working Spreadsheets that this Program
constantly destroys the functions, will not let you fix them and
blocks the use of our Printer. Tonight I was even being funny
with some simple Humour (Yes I Can) and was One Paragraph
away from completing today’s Blog when it all
disappeared. Then a message appeared saying that the Document
was for Viewing Only. Anyone considering the use of Libre
Office Writer save yourself the headaches. It may cost a
bit but Microsoft Office is
reliable.
Let’
try this again.
Scrubbing the Windshield again. |
We
were both so tired from the last few days of travel that Kathy was in
Bed sleeping before I finished writing the Blog and I
had to keep getting up and walking around while the Pictures
would upload just to stay awake. (Real Party Animals)
After mentioning the Traffic Noise we could hear last evening
that we would need Earplugs to sleep. Didn’t need them and
we slept like a couple of rocks.
This
morning I was up by 7:30 putting the Computers away before
starting to create Breakfast from Leftovers. (Not just
Kathy that can do that.) Some time back Kathy had tried a new Cereal
that she just couldn’t finish and she had overstocked us on Yogurt
Cups so after crushing the Cereal like Granola I
made my version of Parfaits and they tasted pretty good. When
she heard the Water Kettle whistling it was ready Kathy nearly
came running down the stairs.
After
finishing our inside chores the hardest thing to do outside was once
again cleaning all the Bug Smears off our Windshield.
Once that was finished we drove less then a Mile to the Love’s
to fill the Truck with Diesel before finally
getting on the road by 9:45.
The
Park Manager was right last night about the rest of our trip
on I-55 being Smooth Sailing
after hitting that stretch where we thought all the wheels were about
to fall off both the Truck and Trailer.
Knowing
ahead of time that it was over an Hour Drive north before
getting to our first change of direction didn’t help with the
anxiety that awaited us ahead. This Highway just clips the corner of Missouri before we finally turned onto I-57.
Water along the road. |
We started seeing Standing Water in a lot of
Farmers Fields and it got worse as we got closer to the
Mississippi River. On The
Weather Network last evening there were Warnings
that the Water Level was already over a Foot higher
then Flood Level.
After
crossing the River into Illinois
there were more Trees along the edge of the road that were
already surrounded by Water. We saw how many Farmers
had erected Buildings on Built Up Mounds that looked
like small Islands in order to protect their investments. This
also had us wondering if we had delayed our trek home if we would
have been able to use this route.
Luckily
Illinois has some nice Rest
Areas so we decided to stop for lunch. We were the only RV
among all the Semis that had stopped. Since our Batteries
were fully charged Kathy was able to use our Microwave to warm
up the Leftover Chicken Tenders and Potato Wedges from
our meal last night.
Our
next change of direction was when we turned east onto I-70
just before Effingham. (Sounds
like someone cussing) Since it was only 1:15 and the forecast was
calling for Rain in this area later today we pushed on. Soon
we were crossing the Indiana State Line
so after a brief stop at a Shell
station for more Fuel we continued until we reached Terre
Haute, Indiana our
predetermined Half Way Mark to tomorrow’s destination.
Like
a beacon guiding our way Kathy spotted a Cracker
Barrel sign. We had an enjoyable meal before
heading back to the Trailer for the night. It wasn’t until
we went On-Line that we realized we are back in the same Time
Zone as the rest of our family. That was another Four States and 332 Mile day
that we are glad is over.
Moonfly13
suggested using Rain-X
Bug Remover
so we’ll definitely be trying that out. We think this has been an
exceptionally wet winter that has really brought out a lot of Bugs
this spring. This
post is shorter then the original. Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be
Safe and Enjoy!
It’s
about time.

You

You've
ever gotten a concussion from hitting a speed bump.
Good to hear you pressed on to avoid potential bad weather.
ReplyDeleteGlad the trip is going good for you.
ReplyDeleteStill thinking about your refrigerator, did it fix itself?
No greater frustration than writing a blog post and to loose it at the end. I sometimes have problems with comments that disappear when I hit publish.
ReplyDeleteI thought you guys were slowing down LOL...Travel safely. Great pics. Hope the weather holds til you get home!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're pretty much past the worst part. I used windex on my windshield and the bugs just slid right off. Be sure to rinse the truck well. Sending good thoughts for no flooding.
ReplyDeleteSure glad the flooding wasn't any worse for you. I've given up and just use blogger for my posts. Hate it but it seems to not lose my posts. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pain to have to re write your post. Thank you for doing so and giving us your update. Yet another long day. Safe travels today.
ReplyDeleteWell you are certainly putting the miles behind you. You are making us look like slackers...lol
ReplyDeleteContinued safe travels.
Welcome (almost) home!
