Pain In The Neck and Nature Changed Our Plans.

Our Location today is at the Dream Catcher Escapees RV Park in Deming New Mexico.

As I was about to post our Blog last night I realized that it was still showing that we were in Quartzsite as our location which meant there were changes to be made. As soon as our post was verified I returned to the Two Previous Blogs and made the appropriate corrections.

After having a shorter travel day and a relaxing evening we figured we would sleep like a couple of rocks. That was the last thing that happened as we both kept waking on and off most of the night. Then when we woke up this morning we both had bad Shoulder Pains on opposite Shoulders. Must have been the way we laid in bed.
I had already checked The Weather Network before Kathy joined me and saw Red. Red for Severe Winds through the Texas Panhandle with the possibility of Blowing Dust into New Mexico. They advised anyone travelling those areas to do so with care and if possible to delay their trips. We must have had a Crystal Ball when we planned to stay for Two Nights.

As soon as breakfast was over I left my Coffee to cool while I did my inside chores. Kathy got caught up on her reading. After getting changed I gulped down my Coffee, put my Coveralls on and headed out the door.

I needed to check for a minor Fuel Leak when we transferred fuel from the Auxiliary Tank to the Main Fuel Tank. I located where I believe it is happening so we’ll just empty that Tank and be more cautious with the Fuel Level in the Main Tank. There were a few other things that I checked on the Trailer but like the Truck it will wait until we are back in McGregor because by this time the Wind was already kicking up large clouds of Dust.

Back inside Kathy was trying to check our accounts but wasn’t having much luck because she got Locked Out. Getting on the Phone with our Bank they proceeded to tell us that it was over a year since we had changed our Passwords and that was why they were Locked. What???? We’d never heard of such a thing but finally got everything reset and were able to do what we needed to do.
It took some convincing to get Kathy to just serve her Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch along with a Juice. We weren’t very active so why overeat.

With the Wind continuing to rock the Trailer was really making Kathy nervous. Has to do with close encounters with Tornadic Winds many years ago. I suggested we go for an Inside Walk at the local Walmart.
The Mountain paled by the Blowing Dust.
Armed with our Shopping List within Ten Minutes we were there. You could still taste the Dust in the air but at least we didn’t hear the Wind. We got everything on the List and got extra walking in but the Shoulder Pains we woke up with were again causing us some distress.
Back Home we got everything put away before we each took an Extra Strength Tylenol to ease the Pain before leaning back in our Recliners. That was okay for a couple of hours but the 43 MPH Gusts started getting the best of us again.

We headed over to Wendy’s where we both had one of their Full Sized Salads for supper. At least the building wasn’t shaking. We also had the chance to do a little people watching before we left.

One of the things we didn’t put on our Shopping List this afternoon was to top off the Truck with Diesel so on our way Home we stopped at the Camco where we topped off for $2.899 a Gallon. I was glad to have brought my sweater because the Temperature was colder then when we left Home. I once again spent another Ten Minutes cleaning the Windshield and Side Windows of the remaining bugs. When I went to lift the Wiper Blades they were actually stuck to the Windshield probably from the Honey Bees we ran into on Monday.

Tomorrow we’ll see where we end up at on our Trek back to Ontario. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  3. We have been stuck in Deming a few times over the years with wind and major dust storm. Especially at this time of year. Carry on and enjoy the journey.

  4. Deming, we had to stay there extra time in 2000 because of snow.
Do be careful on your trip.

  5. When the strong wind rattles your trailer that can be unnerving for sure. Hope you have better weather in your upcoming travels. Those fuel prices are something you'd be wishing for once you come back home. We now have the carbon tax!!

  6. I totally agree. That wind is scary when you're in a rig, rocking and rolling.

  7. Definitely windy! We get a lot of that here in NV all the time! Nice you could visit Walmart at least to get out of the rocking!

  8. The wind was blowing here yesterday, also, on the ride we took. Could barely open the doors to get back into the Jeep a couple of times. We have been delayed in New Mexico more than once because of the wind. Just not worth the risk when they are gusting like that. Stay safe.

  9. The winds there can sure can be nasty. Some years ago, we were blown sideways in a 40 ft motorhome. That was something I hope never to repeat. Hope the rest of the trip is smoother.
