Not Grapes, Easy Drive and Taco Tuesday.

Our Location today is at the Dream Catcher Escapees RV Park in Deming New Mexico.

We were both tired enough that when our heads hit our pillows last night the next thing we remembered was waking to the sounds of Songbirds and trickles of Sunlight sneaking past our Window Shades. When I got up just before 7:00 MDT there was enough of a chill in the air that I put my Housecoat on. I did my usual chores before starting my morning reading on the Computer. Since we wouldn’t be travelling very far today I let Kathy sleep a little later. She needs more Sleep then I do and she has a harder time adjusting to Time Changes.
I had my Computer packed away when Kathy came downstairs for breakfast. After eating she checked for messages on her Computer while I went upstairs to close up our CPAPs. That was when I noticed the Vent Cushions by the Clothes Hamper. Looking up both the Bedroom and Bathroom Vents were open. No wonder it felt like 43 F (6 C) inside the Trailer.
After closing up the Slides it didn’t take long to finish putting other things away. While I walked over to the Office to settle our accounts Kathy started setting things in the Truck. Not being so tired this morning I observed that Rusty’s RV Ranch is a work in progress that some might consider staying at. All their sites are Large Pull-Thrus that can handle the largest of Rigs.
Back at the Truck Kathy was getting the GPS programmed so after doing my Circle Check I started cleaning the Bugs off the Windshield we hit later in the afternoon yesterday. Being tired I didn’t think anything about it until I started cleaning it this morning. It was not Bugs as big as Grapes like I mentioned in last night’s Blog but Honey Bees. It took nearly a Half Hour to do a rough cleaning this morning. When I told Kathy and she looked up at our Wind Deflector as well as the Nose Cap of the Trailer we believe we might have wiped out the entire Swarm.
Heading out the gate at nearly 10:00 we continued winding our way through the hills meeting few other vehicles as we made our way towards the I-10 Interstate but yet there was a Speed Trap set up along the way. Once on I-10 we drove to the Rest Stop just east of Lordsburg where we took a walk to limber our legs. This Rest Area had quite a few Picnic Shelters set up that cars could park near but we wouldn’t have been able to make the tight turns.
Murals on the Walls around the Rest Stop.
Back on the road we only had another Twenty Miles or so to go before exiting at Deming. Being Escapee Members we drove to the Dream Catcher Escapees RV Park. When we pulled in at 12:30 the Office was closed for lunch but the Maintenance Man showed me a list of available Sites so we chose # 42 to be our home for a couple of days. There’s few repairs I want to make before we go too far down the road.
Today we set the Jacks down and connected all the Utilities. I also managed to lubricate the Slide Mechanisms while we set up. While I closed down the Truck Kathy made us our Late Lunch. She made Poached Eggs on Toast along with a Small Potato Salad.
It was nearly 2:00 by the time I went to the Office to pay for our stay and was not surprised to see the line RVs coming in had spilled out onto the road. I also was reminded that this was Taco Tuesday next door at the Quality Inn.
Back at the Trailer while I set up the Computers and CPAPs I told Kathy we were having Tacos for supper. I did more rearranging in the Basement to make it easier to get to things.
Around 5:15 we were on our way to the Clubhouse when we saw a line of Escapees heading for the opening in the fence to the Quality Inn. Every Tuesday they set up a Dining Room just for Escapees Members where you can purchase Beef, Chicken or Pork Tacos for a Dollar. Along with a choice of Refreshments it gives everyone a chance to visit. Since they are not large most order Three Tacos to be satisfied. Word of Warning the Salsa is Mexican Made and HOT so if you have any health issues stick to the Sour Cream.
We sat at a table with Pat and Richard both of whom are Solo Fulltimers. We were comparing notes of where we had all spent the Winter Months. Pat was across the border in California from Parker Arizona. When we talked about being “Off the Grid” in Quartzsite by using Solar Panels and our Wind Turbine that drew a lot of questions. Richard said that sounded like what he needed. We also talked about how we took care of our Fresh Water, Waste and Trash without having to move our Trailer. The part they were most impressed with was the cost.
The temperature had dropped quite a bit by the time we came outside. Looking in the Trees and on the Power Lines were Birds getting ready to roost for the night. Back Home with the increased wind we scrambled to close all the Roof Vents and Windows for the night.
We only travelled 104.5 Miles today which gave us more time to relax. Hopefully all our chores and repairs can be accomplished early tomorrow so that we can head further down the road. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

Joke of the Day

If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

  1. Looks like you had to spend a lot of time cleaning your windshield wipers.

Sounds like I would really enjoy the Mexican salsa with the tacos at Quality Inn.

  6. I had meant to take a photo and send it to you but I forgot. Back in Vegas I saw a wind generator like yours except they had painted the fins a bright red. Hope you get a few days of rest before pressing on.
