Blistering Day on The Road.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Just before shutting down the computer last night I checked what the weather would be like in Niagara Falls first thing this morning. When I saw that the Humidex would feel like 97 F (36 C) by 9:00 this morning I knew that we wouldn’t be sleeping in. Of course just thinking that was enough that we both slept very little on our pretravel night. 

The kids planned on using the pool again before leaving the park.
Luckily they only live fifteen minutes away.

Kathy and I were both up by 7:00 this morning. Once we’d had our breakfast we started closing everything up in the trailer in preparation to hit the road again. After doing what I could inside I went outside to start closing up the utilities but being careful to leave the electric power connected. That would allow us to cool down when we felt too warm outside. 

Once we were ready to hit the road we took a walk back to the front of the park for a final round of hugs from the kids and grandchildren. It had been a great but hot weekend that we spent with them and it was going to be hard saying our see-ya-laters. With all the kids pitching in and with only a short drive to their home they had plans to use the park pool one more time before leaving. Hearing they might be in the Windsor area around Thanksgiving helped ease the pain of leaving a bit. Walking back to our site Kathy had to stop to catch her breath because of the high heat. After double checking that we had everything we’d arrived with we were rolling out the gate by 9:35.   

Because this was a long weekend there was a heavy police presence out on the highways. We saw a number of radar traps set up and also quite a few vehicles pulled over helping to support the local police departments. We only had one problem where we ended up taking the wrong highway ramp and added an extra three miles to our trip. 

It was nearing noon hour when we arrived at the Woodstock Service Center on Highway 401 so we took the time to have lunch and relax for a while. We also walked around inside doing a little people watching.

Once we were back on the road other than a couple of slowdowns through construction zones it was clear sailing until we reached the Guardian Storage Yard. Luckily we had already put most of the things we needed back in the apartment in the truck this morning. By the time Kathy and I had parked the trailer and emptied the fridge of its contents we were both sopping wet. We would later learn the Humidex in Windsor was 108 F (42 C) at that time. 

When we arrived at the apartment building we were fortunate to find a shopping cart downstairs to help us unload the truck. It did take multiple loads but we got everything we need for the present from the trailer. It also felt wonderful to be in the Air Conditioned comfort of our apartment on such a hot day.
