Our Location today is Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
The rain storm that our area was hit with last night accelerated
into a severe Thunderstorm that sounded worse than someone banging away continually
on a set of drums and it didn’t stop until after 3:00 in the morning. Just ask Kathy
because it kept her awake until it stopped. Setting the alarm for 7:00 in the
morning on a travel day is truly a waste of time. Why, because you spend most of
the night tossing and turning. You’re also awake watching the clock as the
clock nears the time you set it for. It didn’t take long to have our breakfast
then Kathy tackled the chore of getting things from the refrigerator and
freezer while I packed away our CPAP equipment that we were taking along.

Once the truck was loaded it didn’t take long to get to the
gas station to top off both the truck’s fuel tanks before heading over to Guardian
Storage. Due to the heavy rain storm we had at the door side of the
trailer the beginnings of a small lake in front of it. With Kathy’s urging I used
our wooden leveling boards as stepping stones so we could load the trailer
without tracking half the storage yard inside. I managed to get hitched up
before Kathy had finished her packing inside. We finally hit the Highway 401
just before 9:30.
We stopped at the first service center at Tilbury around
10:30 for a quick stretch and a coffee. From there we drove another two hours
before stopping for lunch at 12:30 at the last center before our cut off onto
Highway 403. There must have been a couple hundred people all with the same
idea. Luckily there were five food outlets to choose from so by 1:00 we were
back on the road.
As thick as the traffic was today for the start of a long
weekend there was only one bottleneck slowdown through a construction zone on a
bypass. We arrived at 3:30 at the Campark RV Resort in Niagara Falls Ontario. The
goal after getting set up on our site was to visit with our son Gary and his
family for the weekend.
It was closer to 5:00 by the time we walked over and met
with the kids at their campsite and were introduced to the newest part of our
family our great-grandson Jackson who is nearly six months old. When we
returned after supper I remembered to bring the camera to take some pictures
and was surprised to see how curious this little guy was. He really got
comfortable in Kathy’s arms and before we knew it he was fast asleep.

We enjoyed sitting talking with Gary and Jen and the
grandchildren until the fire started dying down. We’ll be enjoying some family fun
together for the rest of this long weekend. Thanks for following along and feel
free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
