Looking.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

There was no pretravel stress involved but I managed to be awake more than half the night. The only thing that woke Kathy up was when there were a few claps of thunder that sounded like canon fire somewhere nearby. Of course I slept through that part of the storm.
Once we’d had breakfast and finished our morning reading we were on the road by 10:00. We called this an exploration day in hopes of validating some of the information that Kathy has found online. Besides it was still raining out with heavily cloud covered skies so it was the perfect day for this. I mentioned lately that we are constantly seeing increases in our rent with no increase in our pension cheques. Many of our RVing friends no longer maintain a Home Base and live in their RVs full time. Due to Kathy’s health condition even her doctor advised against not having a Home Base for emergencies. So today we were busy looking at alternatives to our housing issue. We are just looking! It is an interest job.
Our first stop took us out to the central part of Lakeshore. We drove around the community that Kathy had seen so well publicized online. The homes that she had found to look at were as pristine as their online pictures but the surrounding neighborhood left a lot to be desired.
On our way towards the town of Essex we happened to spot a community that we were unfamiliar with off a secondary highway. Driving through this area made the first community look like the Ritz. It didn’t take long to get back on the road towards the small town of Essex. This town shows pride in the community and when we rolled into the area we found many more listings that Kathy had not found online. Kathy had left home with only two addresses on her list but by the time we got back she would have over ten pages of listings to research.
It was past 12:00 when we rolled into the small community of McGregor. There are no fast food outlets here only a gas-bar/variety store, pizza shop, hardware store, legion, church, grain elevator and a bar & grill. The bar & grill seemed the place everyone stopped for lunch. The short order cook was more than bustling filling the orders for eat in and take outs. Our Chicken Bacon Wraps with fries were so tasty but by the time we finished eating we realized we shouldn’t have ate the whole thing.
When we arrived at the Viscount Estates we spent another half hour driving around another clean community that showed pride in itself. We found the listings that Kathy had listed and again added more to her list. The other day Lynn the former manager of our apartment had extended an invitation to Kathy and I to stop by and visit. Her jaw nearly hit the floor when we knocked on her door. She gave us a tour of her home and then we sat talking for nearly an hour getting more information on things that would be beneficial to us in our search.
On our way home we made a stop at Canadian Tire to pick up supplies we’ll need to winterize the trailer as well as a new static strap for the car. With all the driving around neighborhoods we did today and the strap on the car being worn down Kathy was starting to feel the effects of motion sickness. Now we’re ready to cross chores off our list. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
