A Real Pain To Get Rid Of A Pain.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

That was a pleasant night’s sleep that I would appreciate having every night. Though Kathy was about to start her day at 5:30, by simply telling her it was too early and she should go back to Bed seemed to work this time. She even put her CPAP Mask back on before joining me. In the end, I had a Twenty Minute head start on my day before she joined me.

After finishing our Coffees, Kathy went about getting ready for the day, while I took a shower. With an appointment later today, I wanted to be Squeaky Clean.

Lunch, was a prepackaged Caesar Salad. We had tried these before and now I remember why we started making our own.

Many of our readers will remember in July of 2023, Kathy was having AFIB problems and within a Week, we had to drive to Newmarket, Ontario so she could have a Cardiac Ablation. It is a minimally invasive procedure that creates tiny scars in heart tissue to block the erratic electrical signals causing an irregular heartbeat. It is performed by an Electrophysiologist, to help restore a normal rhythm, reducing symptoms and improved her overall quality of life. (Copied from the Internet) When we were growing up, that would have been called Science Fiction but today, it has multiple uses in the Medical Field.

Through the many years of working in the Welding trade, I have sustained many Neck Injuries, some of which I missed work to recover. It has gotten to the point where I have difficulty drinking, because I can’t tip my head back, nor could I turn my head to check for oncoming traffic. I actually had to turn my body to accomplish that task.

Back in April, I had an appointment at the Windsor Pain Care Clinic, where this Doctor used Medication to block certain Nerves. With the feedback I gave him, today he performed what is called a Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA). It is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that uses thermal energy (Heat) to selectively disable specific nerves. By creating a controlled lesion on the nerve, it safely blocks pain signals from reaching the brain. (Also copied from the Internet) This could give me up to Six Months of Pain Relief.

You are supposed to have someone to drive you home, but Kathy doubts her own driving at this point. I did have to sit for a short while to regain my balance even before heading for the Car. Like my Vertigo issues, the only way to traveling in a moving vehicle is to be in control. Somehow, the brain senses your hand movement and does not leave you feeling ill. With help of Medication, my issues can be controlled, but I know someone that it has not gone away since his teenage years and he is about to retire.

We stopped at Taco Bell where we shared a Chicken Quesadilla because the last time Kathy could only eat Half of her’s. Guess who inherited the other Half. Along with a couple of Soft Drinks, it was enough to balance our systems.

Arriving at the Apartment, we both felt like we could use a nap but resisted the temptation. Instead, we got caught up on E-Reading that we missed this morning. It was after 6:00 when I started making supper. This was a new twist on our Meat/Veggie Wraps. Instead of Bacon, today I diced up a Chicken Breast. I also used Frozen Vegetables instead of fresh. Once this bag is finished, we’ll be going back to fresh. The meal itself tasted wonderful.

I was starting to write the Blog when Kathy began reading an article to me. I was shocked when I was able to move my head freely with no Pain Restrictions. If this continues to work, I will have it done again if necessary. Other Bloggers we read, have been having this procedure done for years.

Kathy and I would like to wish all the Dads we know, or that follow our Blog, a Happy Fathers Day. Spend the day with the ones you Love.
