I know that you’ve heard this before, so I’ll change it around just a bit, “I am really enjoying sleeping at night” but then, it sometimes interferes with what we want to do during the day.
We settled for a breakfast snack and Coffee at our Computers. That was where I found our Planned outdoor activity for this weekend, would need to be done this morning. This afternoon would be back to the Unbearable Heat for Kathy and tomorrow will be a Washout. I feel sorry for the Volunteers, but maybe some mystic changes in the overnight weather patterns will occur. We were out the door by 10:00 and even at that time it felt like 90 F (32 C).
Our destination was LaSalle. For over Forty Years, (2020 Excluded) they have held a yearly Strawberry Festival that helps support Children’s Sports in the community. Unfortunately, the event is no longer held by the Riverfront but near the Volmer Sports Center. We haven’t been since Covid and were surprised at the distance we needed to walk from the Parking Area, to where everything was set up. We needed to walk over Half Mile, past all the Soccer Fields. Everyone, other than the Volunteers and Workers had to wait out in the Sun, until 11:00 to start getting in. with most of the parents taking their little ones to the Carnival Rides, (Prices were ridiculous), we headed to the Vendors.
Part of the Local Fundraiser is the sale of Locally Grown Strawberries with Ice Cream and since that was the very first Vendor we saw, we started there. That cooled us just enough to get Hotdogs for our early lunch. Luckily, there were Picnic Tables under a large tent to help us cool down. As we finished and were about to check out other things, some of the Parents came in looking like they were about to crash, after following their kids around.
We did quick once over of the remaining Vendors before a faster trip around the (kid sized) Amusement Rides. We still had the long walk back to the Car in that blazing Sun. The Air Conditioner never felt so good.
We took our time heading towards home and thought about picking up our Mail at Guardian Storage. Just as we approached the driveway, we saw that they were holding a Charitable Car Wash. Since Covid, we have carried Little to No Cash with us and the little that we had starting the day, was now gone. That ended our supportive nature for the day and we had to keep on going.
I dropped Kathy at the front entrance to our building, before parking the Car. Upstairs, I immediately turned off the Air Conditioner, that Kathy had me shut down last night. I had finally reconnected with The Weather Network, when I heard Kathy say something. It wasn’t until I saw her wearing her Denim Jacket, that I really woke up. The Hot Sun, and over Two Miles of walking had caught up with me. I had to go change my clothes that were soaking wet.
After taking a peek at the On-Line TV Guide and finding nothing that interested us for the rest of the day, I suggested we go out for supper. I could have easily made supper, but with tomorrow being forecasted to be a very Rainy day, I thought it wise to get out while we could.
We headed to Popeye’s where we each had a Full-Sized Chicken Sandwich for our meal. Unlike their $4.00 version, these were very filling.
We also found out what all the Construction on Tecumseh Road East was about. Lots of our City Streets are being resurfaced this year, but the Detours frustrate a lot of drivers.
Both Kathy and I have had Pets in the past. We are reminded of the Pain when someone writes about their losses. Pets are part of their Families, even if they walk on four legs. Many times, they give back more Love than we can ever give them. Sorry Nancy!
We did feel so much better, just getting out for the short time tonight. We’ll see what we can get into tomorrow.
