Beautiful Weather, Special Care On The Doucettes and Recounting.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

Being up by 8:00 this morning allowed me to do some morning reading on the Computer before breakfast. Having to accomplish something of importance this morning I cheated by cracking open the Bedroom Window Blinds to wake Kathy by 9:00.

As soon as breakfast was completed I scrambled to finish my morning chores before setting up the Dining Table to do our Pill Doucettes. For those unfamiliar with this routine I set up our Medication and Vitamins for the next Forty-Five Days so I’m not always doing them on a Saturday Night. For my Doucettes I simply fill them with Vitamins that have helped keep me fairly healthy. For Kathy it’s a blend of Vitamins along with Prescribed Medications that are taken at different times of the day and sometimes the Doctor decides to change things around. The most recent change was her Arthritic Medication that she was taking Twice a day was causing her problems. The Doctor reduced the morning dosage to a Third but retained the higher dosage in the evening so Kathy will sleep better. They are both the same Medication just different strengths.

There was another little challenge to doing Kathy’s Doucettes today. She is scheduled for Surgery on the Twenty-Fourth of this month so I had to remove the Blood Thinners from her regiment for Two Weeks Before as well as Two Weeks After and no Medications or Vitamins the day of the Surgery. That also meant I had to add Numbers on the end of the Doucettes so they will be taken in the proper order.

Notice the trees are losing their leaves.

While it took nearly Two Hours to fill Kathy’s Doucettes it only took a Half Hour to do mine.

The hardest part for both of us was looking outside at the beautiful weather we were having and not being able to just go for a Bike Ride.

Since our energy usage was low this morning we had Chicken with Wild Rice Soup for lunch along with the last of the Cantaloupe we got on Thursday and a Pecan Tart for dessert.

Later when I went to update the remaining Pills and Vitamin counts on the Spreadsheet we use for keeping track of them I found the numbers did not correspond with the sound of the pills in the bottles. I ended up spending the next Two Hours counting every Caplet, Capsule, Gel-Tab and Tablet in the Medication Box and there were thousands of them. It was past 3:45 by the time I had the Spreadsheet completely updated.

We ended up watching a couple of Hallmark Christmas Movies. We didn’t even watch our Local News. Kathy made Macaroni and Cheese for supper that we ate while watching the movies. (Talk about being lazy.)

It felt good getting away from the News today but then I was saddened while reading MsBelindas Blog about the passing of Alex Trebek from Pancreatic Cancer. All the news I could handle today.

Back to the Phone tomorrow and hopefully our Trailer in the afternoon. That might leave us Tuesday the last forecasted day of nice weather for some fun time. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Krackers

Do you know why you never see elephants hiding up in trees?

Because they’re really good at it.

  1. I'm lucky I only have one medication. That's a lot of counting to do. I'm sure I would mess something up.

  2. It takes me 5 min to do both of our doucettes, can't imagine how much medication you guys are taking... and perhaps it was before me but I never understood why you keep a log of the pill count, perhaps you could reiterate it for us.

  4. I take a lot of medications. I can't imagine separating them for each day. Especially since one doctors visit he changed the dosage on 2 meds. With one med he told to finish the pills I had on hand. But he said to take 2 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And take one on the other days. I wonder if docs do this to exercise our brains!

  5. Since I started reading your blog you have been doing your doucettes. I consider that a labor of love, Kathy is lucky to have such a caring husband.
