Retired Means Really Tired.

Our Location today is at Wildwood Golf and RV Park, McGregor, Ontario.

We seemed to be having trouble waking up this morning due to the constant tapping on our roof from all the Rain we had overnight. This is getting so repetitious that we are certain many don’t believe us but in the last week alone our Rain Gauge has had over Four Inches of Rain drained from the container. With there being a couple of days that were mostly dry like yesterday it made us wonder where it was all coming from. Maybe someone has been filling it with a Watering Can in the middle of the night.
It was after 8:00 when we both headed downstairs to the continuing sound of the Rain. It was a good thing that I mowed the Grass last night otherwise we wouldn’t be able to see the Water laying in our lawn. Since The Weather Network was forecasting Rain for the entire day we were quite surprised when it suddenly stopped around 11:30.
I’ve mentioned before how Kathy recreates a lot of our Leftovers. Yesterday she used the Crock Pot to make her version of Pepper Steak that was served on a bed of Rice with powdered Parmesan Cheese. For lunch today we had the last of the Pepper Steak served on Fettuccine Noodles with shredded Cheese on top. For dessert we each had a Plum and shared a huge Naval Orange. Must have been grown in Texas.
It was just after 12:30 when we headed down the road towards Windsor. With the Half Inch of Rain that we’d had overnight I was surprised to see the nearby Farmer’s Field actually appeared to be dryer.
We had noticed the other day that the Fuel and Gas Prices were considerably lower then they have been in a long time. When we saw the prices were still down today we pulled into the Pioneer gas station to fill up. When you save Ten Cents per Liter on Gas that works out to around Thirty-Nine Cents per US Gallon.
We had gotten a call from Guardian Storage yesterday telling us we had just received a package that was too large for our Mailbox. After getting the few pieces of Mail from our Box Carol handed me a Package the size of a Toaster that weighed like a Feather.
That is the Old Unit on top of the box for the New Unit.
We headed over to the Motor City Community Credit Union to do some banking. Since we have Two Graduations, Three Birthdays and some Laundry coming up this month it took some time to get what we needed.
Looking at the Black Clouds towards McGregor we didn’t feel like being captives inside the Trailer for the rest of the day so we headed over to Giant Tiger. We planned to just walk around but came out with some groceries at reasonable prices. We didn’t even have our Shopping List with us. Luckily we had our Insulated Shopping Bags in the Car to keep thing cold.
Still to early to head back Home we drove over to the Tecumseh Mall. Kathy checked out the Alia/Tan Jay store where she has managed to find a lot of her clothes in the past. Today was not one of those days and she walked out empty handed.
We walked around the rest of the Mall noticing quite a change of businesses since last Fall. We went back to the Food Court where Kathy had a Fruit Smoothie from Tim Horton while I had a Coffee. While enjoying our beverages we also enjoyed People Watching. That was when we noticed that a new tenant had moved into the old Sobeys grocery store that had sat vacant for nearly Three Years. We checked out the new Marshalls/Home Sense. Lots of nice things if you are decorating a house so again our hands were empty.
As we were heading for the Car Kathy felt a few sprinkles. Before we left the parking lot the Car was getting a high pressure wash from the intense Rain. Traffic travelled well below the Speed Limit. Finally reaching the outskirts of the city the Rain slowed down. Turning towards the Park the Farmers Fields looked to be dryer then earlier. The standing water was gone and the Flags at the Park Entrance were pointing South.
The Storm seemed to be following us.
Once we had put our groceries away we were about to head out again when we spotted Brook playing with her children. When asked she said there had been no Rain since early this morning. Looking at the sky we didn’t think that would last much longer.
Rain in the distance heading back to the Park.
It was after 5:00 when we headed towards Amherstburg. Our first stop was Soups R Salads for supper. Today we each had a bowl of Homemade Mediterranean Vegetable Soup and a Diet Soda. We also shared a Greek Wrap because they are too large for one each. Including a Tip it is still far cheaper then eating at McDonald’s.
This Field was very dry this afternoon.
We arrived at our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house shortly before 6:00 under a Bright Sunny Sky. We had our usual enjoyable visit with them until just after 8:00 when we looked out to see a very Dark Sky. We said our Good Nights and headed for Home.
Sunset through the Clouds.
Like the last time we could see large Storm Clouds off in the distance. This time though as soon as we crossed the intersection at Howard Avenue the Roads were covered with lots of Water. The Farmers Fields that appeared dry hours ago were once again filled with standing water. The Flags at the Park Entrance were now pointing North. The Canadian Geese and their Broods were checking out a different Water Hazard today. Our Rain Gauge showed another Half Inch of Rain had fallen since 5:00.
Standing Water on the roads was attracting these Geese.
It’s a good thing we are Retired because with all this running around we are Really Tired. What we do tomorrow is totally dependant on the weather. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. As I read your blog telling about listening to the rain on the roof, I sit here in southern NJ doing the same. We have a tin roof at our home in Alabama but as we have a high pitched ceiling we don't hear the rain. We sure do here in the RV.

It appears you still find plenty to do even when the weather does not completely cooperate.
