Managed
to sleep until 7:30 this morning and the reason I woke up was that I
was cold. The overnight low was 45
F
(7
C)
but it felt like 39
F
(4
C).
The Sun
was
being blocked by a few Clouds
that seemed determined that they would rule the day.
Kathy
came downstairs shortly after 8:00 and even though she wasn’t
feeling like she had the Flu
like yesterday she was still
feeling
out of sorts. The Arthritic
Doctor
she had recently seen wanted her to stop taking One
of her Medications
because he said that she had Rheumatoid
Arthritis and
not Diabetic
Neuropathy.
Since
she was on Two
Capsules a
day we have stopped the One
in the evening which could be part of her problem. It
will take longer than
he thought
for her to stop taking them without Side-Effects.
We
accomplished our indoor chores along with having an early lunch. We
had Tomato
Soup with Basil for
lunch and some of the Cantaloupe
that
was sent Home
with us from my Aunt Anna’s 80
Birthday Party
for our dessert.
Kathy
cleaned up the kitchen while I went outside to unload the Truck.
We forgot to bring in the Rhubarb
our
daughter Karen gave us last evening plus I
had to unload our other Purchases.
Even at noon there was enough of a breeze that I needed to wear my
Sweater
so
as to not be cold.
I
just finished unloading the Truck
when
our neighbours Maynard and Marva showed up. The last time they were
here Maynard had been quite weak. I helped Marva get their bags in
their Trailer
before realigning their steps for them. Maynard had just come from
One
Specialist
this morning and had another scheduled for 4:00 this afternoon.
Rather then returning to their house they
stopped here to relax for the afternoon.
Once
they were settled inside I started removing all the Decorating
Stone from
around the base of the Trees
we have as a Privacy
Screen
at the rear of our
Site.
We have a number of Emerald
Cedars
but
we lost Two
of them this past winter. When those Trees
were first planted it took time to dig the holes because under the
Grass
there is nothing but Clay.
I made the Holes
bigger and deeper then necessary so that Peat
Moss
and Potting
Soil
could be added for
nutrition.
However with all the Rain
that we have been getting the Clay
seemed to be holding the Water
around the roots like a bucket possibly
causing them to rot.
After
replacing the dead trees with the new I continued lifting the stone
so that the Landscape
Cloth
could be replaced.
Kathy
came out to see how I was doing but we soon heard a commotion from
our neighbour’s Trailer.
Maynard was under the edge of their Trailer
trying to block off openings because the birds were making nests
under his Trailer.
Marva said
he was being stubborn when he wasn’t feeling well. I had a word
with Maynard while Kathy spoke with Marva to calm her down. He needs
to get well rather then worrying about the trivial things.
After
they left for Maynard’s appointment I realized that we didn’t
have any Pea
Stone
to put in our planters so we had to run more errands. While
I closed things up outside Kathy made us a nice Chicken
Salad
for supper and a Mixed
Berry
covered Yogurt
for dessert,
Since
we needed some groceries we headed for Amherstburg.
Our first stop was our son Kevin’s house to drop off some Vegetable
Plants
from his sister. Karen buys Flats
of Plants
to fill her garden and whatever is left over sends then to Kevin’s.
Nobody
was home so I left them on the Patio
Table
and would call later to let them know.
Look real close to see Bird's nests in most of the letters. |
Next
we went to Dollarama
to
pick up a pair of Pruning
Shears
for Kathy so
she can trim some of the shrubs in her gardens. They didn’t have
any gravel so we headed over to Walmart.
Kathy
had already started shopping from her
Shopping List by
the time I parked the Car.
When we had all the food on the list we checked out the
Seasonal Section
of the store to find they
had no Gravel
either.
As
we were heading for the Checkout
we saw Al and Annette doing some shopping. Al started telling Annette
about our going “Off
the Grid”
in the desert. At first she thought he was pulling her leg but when
she heard us saying so she believed us. She is not retired yet but
they are taking their Travel
Trailer to
the East
Coast
this summer travelling with their friends. We
told her about our Blog
so she’ll be checking it out soon. It was nice talking to them but
we all had to go.
After
checking out we went to Canadian
Tire.
They did have the
Pea Gravel in their Seasonal Section so
we were soon on our way Home.
Once
the groceries were unpacked Kathy asked me to chop up the Rhubarb
that
we’d gotten from our daughter Karen last
night.
There was enough that she packed half in a Freezer
Bag for
a later time and cooked up the rest for us to eat this week.
I
wasn’t worried about fixing the Decorative
Stone
this evening instead I was concerned about our Miniature
Pine Trees
that the Wind
kept
knocking over. Using the new larger Flowerpots
we
had gotten I added Twenty
Pounds
of Pea
Gravel
in each one. Then after moving the Pine
Trees to
the larger Pots
filled the extra space with Potting
Soil.
Now the Wind
will have to blow extra hard to blow over these trees.
Tree on far right was replaced and the Decorative Stone is still on the Patio. My back said it was time to stop for the night. |
My
back was telling me to call it a night just after 8:00. It will be
warmer tomorrow so we hope to finish our gardening. Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be
Safe and Enjoy!
It’s
about time.
