Change Of Plans, Visiting With Judy and Seeing An Artist’s Workshop.

Our Location today is at the Jojoba Hills SKP Resort, Aguanga, California.

I’ve mentioned many times how we both have Sleep Apnea and require the use of CPAP Machines to get any kind of decent sleep. I’ve also mentioned that every time we sit still for any length of time it is like we have to start all over again when it comes to being “Off the Grid”. Yesterday we were so anxious to go get the Truck that I thought Kathy shut off anything that could drain our Batteries while she thought that I did.

When it came time for us to go to bed last night the Battery Level was too low to turn on the Designated CPAP Inverter and it was too late to run our Generator. We spent most of the night tossing and turning while waking up unable to breathe. We’ll both be double checking that from now on.
We were up but not fully awake shortly after 7:30 PST this morning and there was little Sun shining our way at the time. With breakfast out of the way we discussed the Time-Frame to our next couple of destinations. We also discussed our planned Christmas Dinner with our friends Wayne and Sue. Since they had said they were being joined by their children this year we had to find out if our get-together was still on so I sent off a message.
This Dog is approximately 10 foot tall.
With an afternoon visit planned I didn’t want to get too involved working on the Truck so we worked together working out Four different Destination Scenarios. Around that time Wayne called verifying the reservation and asked where we were heading. When told Joshua Tree Forest he said he’d heard they were closed due to the Heavy Rain they had just gotten before he wished us Safe Travels. That changed our Travels to only One and we’ll be leaving on Saturday.
For lunch Kathy served up some Grilled Sliced Ham along with Coleslaw and Southwest Potato Salad. After the Dishes were cleaned and we double checked everything was turned off we headed out the door.
Another Safari Motorhome for Steve and Karen.
Our destination was to visit with another former RV Blogger here at Jojoba Hills SKP Resort. Most including ourselves will remember Judy Bell’s blog Travels With Emma. Judy was also known as the Bird Lady of Blogland for her ability at recognizing the many different Avian Species here in North America. We had followed her on many of her Volunteer Stints at many of the National Wildlife Reserves.

Our paths had nearly crossed before but life always happens. Today we had an enjoyable visit with Judy here at Jojoba Hills on her Site. The view was fantastic but the company even better. We learned more of what brought Judy to a more stationary lifestyle after being a Fulltime RV Volunteer for nearly Ten Years. She also found a way to have a Garden that the Rabbits can’t get at but you will just have to visit her in order to see it for yourselves. She still RVs but in a much smaller “B-Class” which she finds much easier to get around in. After visiting for a Couple Hours we gave Hugs and Wishes to meet again down the road. Thank You Judy for a wonderful visit.
After a quick stop at the Trailer we continued down the road from the Park. After Merikay and Craig MacKenna telling us about this and having passed this location a number of times over the last few days we just had to visit. This was the Workshop of Ricardo Breceda and even if the name doesn’t sound familiar you have probably see his work on lots of RV Blogs. This is the Artist that created all the Metal Sculptures found around Borrego Springs.
There is no sign anywhere by the road but what you see are many Metal Sculptures. We walked around admiring his work until Kathy spotted a very appealing Wall Hanging. With a little bargaining she now is the proud owner of an original. His Workshop is located at 44450 Highway 79 in Aguanga, California or can be reached at 951-236-5896, or ricardo.breceda@gmail.com. or his website www.ricardobreceda.com.
Luckily we had left windows open in the Trailer because when we got back it was 79 F (26 C) outside but our Batteries were not fully charged. Not wanting to go through the same problem that we had last night I set up our Honda Generator. Our Home Park has a rule for not running Generators so our’s has not been run since we left Quartzsite last March. The only thing I did was to put Fuel Stabilizer in the Gasoline to prevent the Carburetor from gumming up. I was very happy when it started on the very first pull of the Starter Rope.
After shutting our Electrical Management System I was able to turn on the Converter, along with a Battery Charger to top off the batteries at the same time we were charging all our Electronics, running our Water Heater and Fridge on Electric. It only took an Hour and everything was topped off.
They grow Snakes this big in Texas.
Kathy made Beans on Toast for supper. She also checked what Wayne told us. That report like another that I found is nearly Two Months Old but due to the Government Shutdown the Park is closed anyways. We know that we’ll be sleeping well tonight. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Nice that you got to visit Judy. Great that you got your truck back, hopefully that's the end of the issues. Kathy will enjoy her original I'm sure. We visited the "Enchanted Highway" years ago in North Dakota and bought from the artists shop too. Love things like that.

  2. So good to hear about Judy. Miss her blogs. When I looked at her picture it dawned on me that we bought the exact same destination trailer for our lot here in Apache Junction. We have never been to Borrego Springs or to Jojoba Hills. Must be a nice place cause so many call it home.

  3. Just stopping in to wish you and a Kathy happy holidays. I’m home for a couple of weeks, then back to NY. I’m not sure I’ll ever blog, again—as I told Sandie I’ve hit a wall. I do hope to spend some time on my computer (where I can see better) and catch up on what all my favorite bloggers are doing. Wishing you a Nee Year filled with happiness and good health.

  5. Good to see Judy is doing well, I often wonder how her and Emma are making out in the stationary life.
