Still Hot, Finally Updated Our GPS, Missed Storm and “Dirty Grandpa”.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We both slept much better last night and even managed to be up by 8:00 this morning. After a Lite Breakfast we took our Coffees over to the Computers so we could see what is happening. With the Humidex again forecasted to hit the Century Mark we made indoor plans to fill our time.

It didn’t take long to finish getting caught up with the other Ontario RVers enjoying time with friends, walking down to the Maitland River or taking care of clearing out STUFF. Then there were others just getting caught up thinking because they were Home that they didn’t have anything to write about, were they wrong. We opted to have a second cup at the Computers but we took the time for it to cool while doing some of our indoor chores.

Kathy thought we’d have our filling meal for lunch so she put together the last of yesterday’s Greek Macaroni Salad, with Chicken Tenders and Olive Slices for a side, then she topped it with a nice bowl of Bing Cherries.

Looking outside the sky had filled with Storm Clouds and the Weather Guessers were calling for quite a storm to hit our area and looking at the Radar it looked like we might need wings on the Trailer.

After lunch Kathy settled in at the table to sort receipts before adding them to our Expenditure Spreadsheet.

As mentioned on the weekend I was unsuccessful at updating our Rand McNally GPS. After connecting the GPS to the Rand McNally Site on the Computer the next step was to call their Tech Support. You can really get tired of listening to all those Advertisements that replay on a loop while you’re waiting for assistance. It only took Fifteen Minutes for the first person to answer but after hearing what the problem was they said I needed to talk to someone in Programming. On hold for another Twenty Minutes before Chad came on. I’d barely finished explaining the problem when he had me going through their site and with the push of an Icon the GPS was finally being updated.

That was only Forty-Five Minutes on the phone, but now my Computer was busy getting all the Updates Downloaded for the first GPS. Once that was finished it all had to be Transferred it all to the GPS. Over Five Hundred Files and Two Hours later we could get information that we had never seen before. Like the Floor Plan for the Seattle Washington Space Needle and to Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World. Don’t know if we’ll ever need it but I saw it loading. It was decided that I would wait until I’m going to bed to do the other GPS.

It was past 6:30 when Kathy decided to cook up a couple of Store-Bought All Beef Tourtieres. When Kathy saw how natural these were made she thought we’d give them a try. They took longer to cook then the box suggested but they tasted great even before we dressed them up, Kathy with Ketchup and me with Hot Salsa.

We decided to see the movie “Bad Grandpa” with Robert De Niro this evening. It was rated “R” due to Mature Adult Matter and Course Language. It gave us a good laugh.

So far we’ve had no Rain and the Humidex is supposed to be more comfortable tomorrow so we’ll see what we can do. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. When I started traveling way back I bought a GPS and was given some very bad instructions on how to use it and got terribly lost on my first big trip. I finally went learned how to use it only to having stolen out of my truck in my own driveway. To make a long story short I have never been able to figure out the new one.

  2. I haven't updated my GPS in the rig since I bought it. Luckily I haven't had a problem yet. Otherwise, I use my phone. It tells me exactly how to get places and is always up to date.

  3. I’ve always used Garmin, but found that they. Exams less accurate over the years. I sent in a correction from a mile away from home 5 times and they never corrected it. I need to upgrade the one in my car—that should be fun. I have to wait until it’s cooler as I don’t want to subject my computer to the high heat. Rick, are you getting my comments? Still getting your posts with underlined words. Have to see if you have an email address. I hope I haven’t offended you in any way.

    1. Nancy there is no way you have ever offended me it is that I normally don't reply back in the Comment section but try to do so indirectly in the Blogs. Many Bloggers do that which adds to their Comment Count. I feel that is a lie that twice as many people are commenting. I prefer the actual count whether it is high or low.

Kathy and our kids have checked our Blogs and there is no Underlining of any words. Could your computer be set to pick up Key Words? I know that when I post a Link the words change colour and are underlined (by Blogger) but I haven't done that in a while. I Bold words that I want to stand out. (Get my knuckles wrapped for that one in English Class.) I use Blue on writing to highlight Places or Roads and sometimes use other colours such as Red for Christmas or Danger.

What you can probably do to update your car's GPS is to save the Download to a Memory Stick, then simply connect it to your car while you run an errand.

Most GPS companies use use the Maps put out by Rand McNally and since they had a GPS for RVs it only made sense to get their product. We've had Garmin in the past and even though they have been in the Global Positioning Systems longer then anyone else (due to Ocean Going Vessels) we were having too many issues.

It takes years for them to make changes to their maps.

As for the E-mail you can contact us at rick.kathy.rousseau@gmail.com anytime but we only check it once a day

Hope you are staying Safe and Enjoying these hot days by keeping cool.
