We
were both up within minutes after 8:00 this morning having slept like
a couple of rocks through the night. Unlike this morning Nineteen
Years ago we woke up apart and Kathy was about to have a
whirlwind of activity that would fill her morning. I had a calmer
time just getting cleaned, dressed and on my way. Later in the early
afternoon we committed ourselves to one another when we said “I
Do”. We had both made those same promises to others in the past
but the reality of life ended that in heartbreak as they were laid to
rest. Along the road to recovery it was like powers outside of our
realm brought us together. It only seems like the other day and we
are hoping for many more.
The
sky was clear but the Humidex was
already in the mid 80s. After breakfast and that first cup of
Coffee at the Computers I was headed to the Shower.
If I’d showered last night I would have tossed and turned rather
then slept.
As
I came out of the washroom I could hear Kathy speaking on the phone
and just by the way she was talking I knew that she was speaking to
our dear friend Vera. By the time I returned to my Computer the
call had ended but Kathy passed along Vera’s wish of a Happy
Anniversary.
My
sister Anna had also sent us a Happy
Anniversary Wish On-Line. Thank You Anna.
Within
minutes we were on our way out the door. The clock on the dash read
11:50 as we made our way onto the street. With the location of where
we live there are Two ways to get to our Optometrist’s
Office. One would have been to take the scenic
route along Riverside Drive.
Since there was only a Half Hour to get to our appointment I
chose the Expressway.
Since
we haven’t been rushing around Windsor
lately it wasn’t until we got on E.C. Rowe
that we found out it was being resurfaced. For the first mile it took
Ten Minutes and I wanted Kathy to call saying we would be
late. As soon as we passed the Central
Overpass it was “Full Speed Ahead”. We walked
in wearing our Masks with minutes to spare.
The
Local Health Unit last week has made wearing a Mask
mandatory in all Offices,
Businesses and Stores
within its jurisdiction. Anyone caught not complying with said order
is subject to a hefty Fine and or Incarceration.
We
both passed our examinations with flying colours. Since I have been
dealing with David for Thirty One Years and he knows we like
to travel he was giving us more information about the Virus
and some of the Miracle Cures that are being touted. His
advice is to let the Medical Professionals do their jobs and
ignore what the Politicians are saying.
It
was past 1:00 and we were feeling hungry so we stopped at Wendy’s
for our Anniversary Lunch of Chicken Wraps, Small
Chocolate Frosties and Seniors Sodas. We enjoyed our meal
in the parking lot while watching a long line of others wanting
something to eat.
From
there we headed over to Guardian Storage
to collect our Mail before heading on.
We
just turned on to Jefferson Avenue when
the Train Guards came down. For the next Ten Minutes we
saw a number of different styles of Graffiti pass by. Some
were actually quite nice showing the talent of the Artists.
Others showed they had been interrupted and the task was left
unfinished. Kathy suggested they should allow them to paint those
otherwise bland looking Railcars which would probably stop a
lot of other vandalism.
Noticing
our Gas Gauge going down and Fuel Prices going up we
had no choice but to stop at the Pioneer
gas station and topped up the Car with Gasoline.
One
of the big problems since the start of the
Coronavirus Shutdown is that the Restaurants
and Fastfood establishments
have only served Takeout Food and shut their doors to
everything else. Since we weren’t near our Trailer we
had to head back to the Apartment
for a Pit Stop that we both took advantage of. It also gave us
the chance to gather some things to bring with us.
Some
of those things caused us to stop at the
Shoppers Drug Mart we purchased our Vitamins at on
Thursday. Anyone that uses Iron Supplements knows what happens
if the concentration is too high. Explaining my plight to the Head
Pharmacist he gladly made the exchange to the lower concentration
for me. With all the extra Seals on the Containers it
was quite evident that they had not been tampered with.
Our
next stop was Home Depot where I
had a few things to return. One of those was the Miracle
Grow that we got on Saturday for the Plants. I
hadn’t seen the Fine Print on the
container that said “For Roses Only”.
Kathy’s flowers would have stopped blooming rather quickly. Once
that was refunded I found the proper plant food and was out in
minutes.
We
stopped at Dollarama where we
again purchased some groceries at a lower cost then at the grocery
store.
We
finally made it to Zehr’s grocery
store where we managed to get everything else on our List.
When we walked in there was no one waiting outside. By the time we
planned to pay for our purchases there were at least Fifty People
ahead of us in line to the Cashiers. It took less then Twenty
Minutes and were were loading our groceries in the Car.
Back
at the Apartment we used a large
Shopping Cart to get everything upstairs. Then it took Twenty
Minutes to get it all put away. Supper was a Medium Thin Crust
Store Bought Pizza that took Fifteen Minutes in the oven
to cook perfectly.
The
6 o’clock Local News talked
about the Virus Numbers starting
to go down in our area before talking about the HOT
Temperatures we can expect for the next week.
Kathy
and I would like to wish our Canadian
Followers
a Happy
Canada Day
tomorrow. Like everything else this will truly be different this
year. Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
