Even
though today was the start of a Civic
Long Weekend
and the Alarm
was not set I was awake by 5:30 this morning. Still feeling worn I
managed to fall back to sleep until 7:00. After getting things ready
for breakfast I was almost finished my morning reading on the
Computer
when
Kathy came downstairs an Hour
later.
With errands needing to be run we figured out where we
had
to go before completing our inside chores.
We
deliberately waited until 11:30 before leaving the Park.
It was nice seeing the Horses
next door helping to bring the tall grass back to a reasonable
height. Years ago Windsor
had quite the booming Horse
Racing Track
that was visited by many US
Breeders
and their Horses
but with our Provincial
Governments
ill thought out planning they forced its closure and now all that
remains is an empty field where
the building once stood.
Our
first stop in Windsor was for lunch at Burger
King.
With the coupons our son and daughter-in-law gave us this is the
second meal we had used them for. By the time we were sitting down to
eat the place really filled up and not just with people wanting to
eat but the little ones wanting to
climb
around the inside playground.
Our
next stop was at Guardian
Storage
to collect our Mail.
When it comes to collecting the Mail
that
is normally my chore. Since I’ve returned to Work
and
Kathy might be in the area for Medical
Appointments
I
had to show her where it was and to explain the code to the Mail
Room.
Even
with errands as
our
main objective we
also
wanted to
get out and walk around. I wanted to check something
out so we stopped at Princess
Auto.
Even though it has a lot of Tools
and even some Farm
Supplies
in stock they always have plenty of things to keep Kathy’s interest
in the Surplus
Section.
The only thing we walked out with was a new Mouse
for my Computer.
We
have quite a few Gift
Cards
to use to see movies at the Cineplex
so we headed over to the Devonshire
Mall
to see what was playing. We are not into Horror
so there was nothing of interest for us. We walked into the
Mall
and checked out the Two
Video Stores
that were nearby. We came Home
with Seven
Videos that
were “On
Sale”
cheaper then what the Senior’s
Rate
was to get in to see a single show.
We
drove past the House
we
used to own and could not believe how the Shrubs
and Trees
have grown almost out of control while the Maple
Tree
that was in the back yard has been removed.
A
quick stop at Dollarama
got
us a few supplies we needed. It seemed everyone else in the area
thought the same thing because even with Four
Cashiers
working it took nearly Ten
Minutes
to check out.
We
then headed over to the Real
Canadian Superstore
to stock up on a lot of groceries we’ve been going through. As we
were about to leave we stopped to talk with Barry a volunteer Legion
Member
who was doing his turn at getting Donations.
The Donations
are for the
additional
treatment of PTS
(Post
Traumatic Stress)
for our returning Veterans.
Another Budget
Cut
our Federal
Government made.
Kathy’s Father was a Prisoner
Of War in
a Nazi
Prison Camp
and was never the same when he returned.
It
was after 4:00 and we had walked enough that we were starting to feel
hungry so we stopped at Wendy’s
for supper. It’s hard to beat the price when we can both eat
cheaper then a single
Combo
by ordering off
the Value
Menu,
having
Senior’s Soft Drinks
and getting their Summer
Priced Frosties.
Unfortunately I mistakenly gave Kathy my Spicy
Chicken Wrap.
Even though she only took a single bite her mouth was on fire until
long after we got Home.
It
was after 5:00 by the time we got back to the Park
and
on to our Site.
Our Park
has
Two Swimming Pools
but our neighbours Mike and Pat have their own Blow-Up
Pool for
their small grandchildren. It seemed the youngest was not having any
of that until grandpa
Mike joined him in the Pool.
Even Mike was chuckling when Kathy took his picture.
For
a day off it has truly been a busy one. Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be
Safe and Enjoy!
It’s
about time.

Horses sure do a good job of cutting the grass. I miss Walter (our neighbors horse) who would come graze at mom's house and save me a ton of work and money.
ReplyDeleteLoved the picture of Mike and his grandson :)
Even though you were busy, I bet it felt good to be off work and running around.
ReplyDeleteYou guys watch a lot of movies. So much better than what's on television nowadays. Are those all ones you picked up on sale? You must have a huge stash!!!
