Grilling Bacon, Getting Some Deals, More Wet Weather and A Copyrighted Face.

Our Location today is Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

We are finally starting to get more into a routine of what time we get to bed and approximately what time we wake up in the morning and it’s only taken two months to get here. With the cold nights that we’ve been having lately even Kathy has been keeping herself under the blankets at night which means it must be cold. When I got up this morning around 7:30 MST the inside of the trailer was already at 50 F (10 C) but I still turned the Electric Fireplace on to take the chill out of the air. Since Kathy has Diabetic Neuropathy when her shoulders are cold she is in pain. The main reason we came out to Arizona was the Warm Dry Air that seems to help everyone’s Arthritis. So where is that warmth when you need it?
Looked like this guy was going to drop in for some Bacon.
After finishing our morning reading and indoor chores I had another chore to do. Kathy likes to precook Bacon so that she can freeze it to use in Salads, Sandwiches and even for Breakfast. What she doesn’t like is the splatter it causes in the kitchen. After being introduced to the Grill Mat by George from the blog Our AwesomeTravels we now cook our bacon on our Weber Q. Today’s temperature was perfect for cooking two pounds of the delectable treat in less than thirty minutes. There was however one problem doing this outside, everyone that was walking by was asking when breakfast was being served. Once it is well cooked and the grease absorbed Kathy then lays it between sheets of foil and puts it in the freezer. When she needs some Bacon for whatever she is making she simply heats it up and is serving it in minutes.
After we ate lunch we headed off to Blythe, California to do some shopping. The first place we stopped at was the Ace Hardware Store where I looked for some brackets that weren’t available here in Quartzsite. If you can’t find exactly what you need the bigger store gives you more options to improvise what you need.
Our next stop was the Kmart store across the street where Kathy found a Sweater she needed and she found me some Cargo Shorts that were all reduced by fifty percent. It works for us because we couldn’t find these clothes back in Windsor when we were looking for them. We also got another Food Storage Container that we were in need of.

Cloudy Skies.

As we were leaving Kmart we noticed a Radio Shack across the parking lot. We both have found that when we are on the phone for long periods of time we lose circulation in our arms and that becomes painful. We both picked up a set of ear buds with a built-in microphone.

This is supposed to be a dry climate.
Kathy is working on a small project while we are away so we had also looked for some Bristol Board while in Kmart but they were limited to Black and White at nearly Four Dollars a sheet we passed. Instead we stopped at Dollar Tree where along with a few other purchases we got four assorted colors combined for only Two Dollars. That is a big savings.

Kathy keeping dry, wearing her raincoat.
Heading back towards Quartzsite we were getting a gentle rain all the way back. Once we got our purchases inside and started putting things away the rain intensified to the point that we needed to raise our voices to be heard. After listening to that for nearly an hour we decided to dawn our raincoats and go out for supper.
Since this is Friday we both had a taste for Fish and Chips even though we’d had it for lunch just this past Wednesday. That was also the best Fish and Chips we’ve had since coming to Quartzsite so we went back to the Quartzsite Yacht Club. As you can imagine the place was booming but we lucked out getting first a Parking Spot then a Table. In no time our orders were taken and we were being served in under five minutes.
Someone with a beard didn't like his picture being taken.
You can see my elbow.
Many Bloggers just take random pictures to set the mood we are trying to describe. In the few minutes after we ordered our food I snapped a picture, over my shoulder, across the room and as I did so someone walked into the picture. A minute later a woman is standing by our table telling me I’m not allowed to take a picture of her friend because his face is Copyrighted. First off, I wasn’t taking a picture of him but the room, he stepped into the picture and nobody’s face is Copyrighted. The picture is blurred but with the heavy beard growth the guy is probably on the run from the law and doesn’t want to be recognized. Sounds Suspicious to us!
Check next Friday's forecast.
Back Home the rain once again intensified so I checked The Weather Network to see what was heading our way. Tomorrow looks decent but we aren’t liking the later part of next week. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. I watched the guy with the parasail last year. He used to fly over the nudist camp. Maybe he is looking for the copyright guy with the beard. You are having a lot of fun it seems. I want to get there and look you up and check out your solar system, but I'm not going to get in a hurry with weather like that coming. Looking forward to meeting you.

  3. You guys are good troupers handling the weather like you do. Looking at poor Kathy all bundled up in rain gear and probably saying, "Take me outa here!"
Wishing you both a Happy New Year, lotsa sunshine with warm weather and fun in your travels. All the best!

  4. Copyrighted face????? What a good idea Kathy has with the bacon. I hate the mess. So you are saying, send Leonard outside have him do it and then clean up the mess. Gosh, thanks!

  5. We're having a family thing now due to them putting our photos on their facebook page. We don't want to be on facebook & they are our actual pictures. Just like the bearded guy - it may not be copyrighted - but it is HIS face. Bloggers really need to ask permission instead of assuming its ok. It's about. . . . . . . privacy. Now I've heard that facebook can use any photo they want without any permission as you've posted them and made them public. Not sure if it's true, but wouldn't doubt it.

  7. I hope you guys get warmer, dryer weather soon! The winter we spent in a Phoenix was beautiful. We arrived in Florida this weekend, and although the last 2 nights have been a little chilly, the forecast for the next 2 weeks looks great! I bought Tom some grill mats for Christmas; now I just need to get some bacon and try them out! Happy New Year!

  8. Now that just seems like crazy talk to me. A copyright on a face? Why didn't the man come over and ask you politely now to use his face in the photo. Sounds fishy to me for sure.
