Errands, Maintenance Man and Legion.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I’ve explained before how I start my night’s sleep in my Recliner, before heading to Bed to sleep off the remainder of the night. That was exactly what I did last night, but the results were not what I hoped for.

Thirty Years ago I was injured at work. At the moment, it was only a glancing blow to my Left Temple, but within Thirty Minutes I was being sent out to a Medical Clinic. The diagnosis was a Concussion that resulted in a severe case of Vertigo. It was a nightmare, because there were no medications at the time to treat the effects. I could not walk a straight line nor could I lay in bed because it was worse than being intoxicated, and the spinning sensation was beyond anything I’d ever experienced. Since my job included working at Heights, the Company Doctor refused to let me return to the job for Ten Weeks.

When I got out of my Recliner last night, it felt like I was tipping over. After laying down and the room felt like it was spinning I knew the problem, but held off from crawling to the Livingroom. Though I spent more than half the night in Bed, I did not sleep. At that point I found Medications I was prescribed in 2014, when I had a recurrence of the Vertigo just had happened out of the blue, with no additional injuries. Luckily, a treatment had been developed and within days of taking the Medications, the problem went away. Since then, there have been a few short bouts of this and the Meds did the trick. Last night, I took Two 15mg Tablets before staggering to my Recliner. I woke Three Hours later with only a bad memory of the incidence.

Since the Building Maintenance Man had not been specific as to what time, he’d be here today, I woke Kathy shortly after 8:00. Breakfast was simply a Pastry with a Yogurt Cup before taking our Coffees to the Computers. We accomplished plenty but John had not come to our door.

We had errands to run, so we headed out by Noon. Our first stop was Guardian Storage to collect our Mail. Kathy had ordered a couple of items that according to the Tracking Number had been delivered, but the girls had not called us yet. When I opened our Mailbox, the Two Packages along with a magazine were stuffed inside.

We couldn’t arrive until after 1:00 because Tina has an Hour for lunch, so we stopped for our’s at Wendy’s. Using a Coupon really does save money on eating out. Today, we both enjoyed Nacho Chili Cheese Chips instead of French Fries, with our Chicken Sandwiches.

We arrived minutes past 1:00 at Hearing Life to exchange Kathy’s almost new Hearing Aides. Modern does not mean Better. Her’s will be sent out for final warranty service before the expiration date occurs. She was given a loaner set until they return. Then, when she gets her New Hearing Aides near the end of the Month, if they stop working, she’ll have this set as a backup. The loaners were ready when we arrived so we were on our way in less than Five Minutes.

Feeling tired, we headed back to the Apartment. We were barely seated when there was a knock on our door. It was John the Building Maintenance Man. He had been called away this morning to fix a leaky Water Heater in another building and had just returned. Within minutes, he’d repaired the shelf, that Contractors had removed while adding Gauges shortly after the building’s purchase. He then replaced flush controller in our Eighteen Month Old Toilet and no matter what he did to adjust it, the water level never stayed the same. At least, the Screeching sound had stopped. He had a family get together to attend this afternoon and promised to come back tomorrow to finish things he can do.

That worked out well for us, because it was already past 4:00 and we were heading to the 594 Royal Canadian Legion for 4:30. Our daughter-in-law Melissa and her guitarist Glenn were there performing from 4:30 until 7:30. This also happens to be Fish Fry Friday. Kevin and Cameron were sitting at the first table when we walked into Hall. Bit by bit the place was filling up quickly and our group filled Two Long Tables with Twelve People per table. It was a fun evening, though with my Arm/Shoulder sending bolts of Pain every movement I made, Kathy with her bad Knee and I stayed off the dance floor for the night.

It was nearly 9:30 when we walked into our Apartment. Since I’d hardly used my Computer today it would not open up. I had to pull the Power and Battery in order to restart it.

On the way to the Legion early this evening, I had noticed our Gasoline Prices had risen, but on the way home had noticed a Ten Cent/Litre drop in cost. I’ll gas up before the markets open on Monday.

The 11 o’clock Local News verified the drop in cost per Barrel of Oil and that we will have a cooler wet weekend.

Kathy and I would like to Thank Everyone for all the Birthday Wishes we have received.
