Waking Up Cold, Loaded Salad, Joel Checks Things Out and Some Areas Pushed Back To Phase 1.

When I looked at the Clock this morning I was surprised to see it was nearly 9:00. The other surprising thing was that we both had the covers pulled up to our necks and were shivering from being cold. As soon as the Balcony Blinds were opened and I could see the Thermometer on the far wall reading 59 F (15 C) I immediately shut the Air Conditioner. Even with it off the Compressor continued to try to run so I had to pull the Plug from the wall.
When Kathy came out to join me for breakfast there was no mistaking that she was also cold because she was wearing her Robe and she was still shivering. With the Temperature forecasted to rise later in the day but I didn’t open the Door to warm the Apartment up instead I let our body heat warm us.

With nothing planned for the day we spent most of the morning on the Computers, drinking our Hot Drinks and doing our morning Chores.
Around 12:30 I started modifying a Romaine Salad by adding Finely Chopped Bacon, Celery, Ham, Onion and Peppers. It was then lightly doused with Raspberry Vinaigrette tossed in a bowl then equally served before being covered with Shredded Cheddar Cheese. Kathy had been busy making our dessert plates with the Leftover Pumpkin Pie, half a Pear and half an Orange each. We didn’t sit to have lunch until after 1:00 and by the time we left were well filled by our tasty meal.

It was still cool inside so we didn’t worry about the AC while we drank our Tea. Minutes later we received a call from the Building Handyman to see if he could come to check out a problem I reported the last week.

Twenty Minutes later Joel showed up wearing a Mask like as we were also doing. After a quick check he noted it was an original fixture when the building was built Sixty Years ago and will have to be replaced. After he picks up the replacement he’ll give us a call to finish the job.

Having filled ourselves on lunch we didn’t worry about eating supper until after we watched the 6 o’clock Local News. Parts of Ontario are being pushed back to Phase 1 as the Coronavirus Numbers are suddenly rising again. Luckily our area is still in Phase 2.
Kathy made us Open Faced Pulled Pork Sandwiches using the prepackaged meat from Lou’s Kitchen for supper then served us each a small bowl of Chapman’s Dutch Chocolate Frozen Yogurt for dessert.

It wasn’t until after Kathy took her shower that she said it was starting to feel warm in the Apartment. (Kathy gets hot with cold showers.) As soon as I plugged in the Air Conditioner the Compressor started even before I turned the Unit on. Hopefully we won’t get cold tonight. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I am a little confused guys...I thought the A/C unit was new...yet you mention it has been there for 60 years?

I think a lot of places are having to go back to Phase 1. I just wish we had national leadership to help us navigate through these trying times as you have in Canada.

Here is hoping you do not freeze tonight!
