Remembering Sally, Rainy Weather and Errands.

Kathy didn’t fall asleep as fast as I did last night so when I told her it was time to get up at 8:00 this morning she wasn’t too perky. We got through breakfast fairly quick and only stayed at the Computers long enough to drink our hot drinks, check our E-mails and the weather even though we only had to look out the Window to see how hard the Rain was coming down.

By 9:30 we were on our way out the door because we were heading all the way to Saint Joseph’s church in River Canard. If you recall last week our daughter-in-law Melissa suddenly lost her mother. Her requests was no Funeral but she didn’t say the family could not hold a Service in her memory. When we arrived it was a challenge to find parking anywhere as all the parking lots were full.

With the Rain coming down like it was the church Foyer was filled as people made their way past the Receiving Line of Melissa, her father Al and her brother Jason. As the priest would later say through the service he was surprised on how many people were in attendance because the service itself had not been published in any News Paper. It had all been by word of mouth. It showed how many people’s lives Sally had touched and they all want to have their chance to say good bye.

There was a brief reception downstairs afterwards put on by the Ladies Auxiliary that Sally had worked tirelessly with for over Fifty Years. There we finally had a chance to talk with not only Al but also to Melissa and Jason. Since we’ve both personally been through this before we warned them about making certain their dad would remember to eat as well as taking care of his own health. When you suffer the loss of a Spouse it is not always something that you remember to do. We kept the snacks to a minimum as we talked to others.
We had a few errands to run so we headed back to Windsor where our first stop was Princess Auto. We wanted to walk off the snacks we’d had. Besides all the Tools they carry they have a large Surplus Section. We found a few things that we brought home.
Our next stop was Taco Bell where at 2:00 in the afternoon we had a very late lunch or early supper. One nice thing about living in this Apartment is all the Fast Food Coupons that we get. We even had the French Fries as way to avoid needing to eat later.
From there we headed over to Zehr’s grocery store where we had a number of food items we needed to pick up. We lucked out getting everything on our list.
Luckily it wasn’t very hot out though it wasn’t freezing as we realized we needed to go to Canadian Tire. We picked up a Quart of Paint for an upcoming project we have planned as well as a few smaller items.
I wasn’t happy with their selection of Towel Bars so we went to Home Depot to see what they had. We found exactly what we wanted but weren’t sure of the length so walked out with Two different sizes. One will be returned later.
We then stopped at Dollarama to get more Paint Supplies along with a few other things Kathy wanted on hand to occupy our younger grandchildren if they come to visit our Apartment.

With it Raining so steady when we reached the Apartment I dropped Kathy at the Front Entrance so she could find a Shopping Cart for us to use. I then drove the Car around to the Rear Entrance where I loaded all our purchases in the Cart before going to park the Car. Kathy had to wait for me to return because there was no way she would have been able to push the Shopping Cart to our Apartment.

It took nearly an Hour before we had everything put away. This Kitchen is smaller then the one in our Trailer so there was no leaving anything out.

We watched the 6 o’clock Local News before turning our attention back to the Impeachment Trial. The Case was concluded this evening and now we’ll hear from the President’s Counsel starting tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Glad to hear the memorial service went so well. Sad time for the remaining spouse and their health is always a concern for awhile afterwards. Some winter. Hot and cold. Just can't make up it's mind.
