Cutting Back.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I was again surprised when checking my CPAP Timers this morning, that after spending less then a Half Hour in my Recliner, I managed to sleep over Seven Plus Hours in Bed, totaling nearly Eight Hours of sleep. I had barely started getting things ready for Breakfast, when I could hear Kathy making the Bed. When asked why she just did not just come out so I could make us a better breakfast, she said it was so she would not go back to Bed.

We settled for what seems to be turning into our new Breakfast of Champions, a Breakfast Snack Bar, a Yogurt Cup and Breakfast Juice to wash down our morning Medications. We automatically bring our Coffees over to our Computers, as a way of catching up on recent Blogs, News and Communications.

Since we have been cutting back on our daily intakes as a means of cutting back on our expanding waistlines, we have not been feeling the need to eat the way we were before. With the desire to get away from the Apartment, we left with the idea to run a few errands.

Our first stop today was Guardian Storage to collect any Mail that may have accumulated but found none. It was still a nice ride.

Next we finally went to Wendy’s, for a very late lunch. It was nearly 3:00 when we sat down to eat. We took our time and did a little People Watching while we were there.

With nothing else really pressing, we returned to the Dollarama, closest to our home. You probably read that we are there often, which is true, because I do not always make Shopping Lists, for exactly that reason. If we forget something, or did not realize that we needed it, that is a good reason to get out and go shopping. The other day we bought the Breakfast Juice, today we needed Breakfast Snack Bars. There is always more but those are the main things. When we got home, I realized that I forgot a Permanent Marker. Looks like a good reason to go for another ride.

It is hard to believe that the month of January will be over in a matter of Minutes, but we are looking forward to the approach of Spring, and do not mind.

Since we had such a late lunch, we each had a 41 Gram bag of Potato Chips for our supper, while watching a few episodes of “Forensic Files”.

Improvements.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

It was nice being able to get a couple of decent night’s sleeping a row. What made it even better was the Sun shining in our Apartment. The only thing we did not have was the warmth that it normally brings with it.

I was barely in the Kitchen when Kathy came out to join me. As a way of balancing our intakes, we chose to have Cereal for breakfast. It would hold us over until our late lunch.

With these cold temperatures we are experiencing, a hot bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup did the trick of warming us up.

The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local News” explained that we could see some Light Flurries over the next couple of days, but our temperatures could warm to Seasonal in the next week. So far this Winter, like many others, we have been victims of the Polar Vortex. We are luckier than many that live in path of the Lake Effect Storms, that have been getting buried, compared to our dusting.

It was past 7:00 when we had Macaroni and Cheese for supper. We later watched a few episodes of “Law and Order Special Victims”.

In response to a Comment about the series “The Pitt”. Our granddaughter works as a Trauma Nurse in the ER in a Detroit Hospital and says that it is an accurate depiction of what they face almost daily.

We definitely have to get out tomorrow.

Unexpected Delays, Hurry Up and Wait.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Life seems to leave us all hanging once in a while and we really cannot come up answers that totally make sense. The biggest question is how our body works. Sometimes it does this and other times it does that, but most of all it keeps us guessing. My most challenging in the last few years is being able to simply sleep at night like many individuals. A few years back I had to experiment making a combination of Pain Medications along with a variable assortment on Over The Counter Sleep Aids that I called a Bedtime Cocktail. Bit by bit, things improved where I was not using anything as a sleep aid. When I used the ZzzQuil the other night, it was only half the dosage I needed before and the first in over a year. I have always avoided taking Medications of any kind because I know how it can affect the inner workings of the body. I have also avoided taking things for pain to the point of causing my own problems. With the help of Doctors that specialize in Nerve Blocking, the only mystery I have to solve now is just being able to sleep every night.

We settled for a Breakfast Snack Bar and Juice, so we had something to take with our morning Medications, because we had little time to sit and relax.

With another morning of extreme Cold, Kathy surprised me by actually waiting by the rear entrance, while I brushed off the Car. In that short time, someone parked along the curb leaving little room to go by, before disappearing inside the building. In another life of Forklift, Semi and RV driving, I slid through that space that had Kathy cringing at the thought.

Heading down Riverside Drive I mistakenly thought that the issue with Downed Powerlines had been resolved, so I used a side street to gain access to the other East/West corridor. It was not long before we were pulling into the parking lot at Health First Pharmacy. I dropped off the Prescription our Family Doctor gave me on Monday, with the intention to pick it up later in the day. When I returned to the Car we could not go anywhere. An Eight Ton Delivery Truck was blocking Three Cars from leaving. Figuring it would not take long we watched as the driver hand carried multiple loads of boxes into the building, that houses the Pharmacy and Two different Medical Clinics. Then I started hearing things getting tossed around inside the Van Body. We had been delayed for Twenty Minutes, so I asked what he was doing, before saying I had another Doctor’s Appointment and would appreciate he go to his next customer. By the time went in to grab my Prescription, the Truck and other Cars were gone.

It is always a PITA to find parking at the Medical Complex that houses the Windsor Pain Clinic. It is also a PITA that we are given appointment times and are not brought in for another Two Hours. At least I was given a few less Injections in my Neck and Shoulders before we left.

It was past 1:30 but the Optometrist Office had called saying my new Computer Reading Glasses were ready. We swung by the McDougall Medical Center and could not find a single Parking Spot. I will try again next week, when the temperature is supposed to improve.

We went to the city’s central Wendy’s location to have a well deserved Late Lunch. It may be the city’s smallest location but it has to be busier than our favourite location.

Knowing there was a Package waiting for pick up, we headed to Guardian Storage. As I emptied our Mailbox of all kinds of Junk Mail, Candace offered to Recycle it for me as she gave me our Package. Though Kathy did not know I had ordered anything, just seeing the shape had her all excited.

As we passed the local gas stations all the Gas and Diesel Prices were way up. Our next stop was at the Credit Union, where we started our end of the month bill payments and finished them off at the Bank.

A quick stop at Dollarama netted us our favourite Breakfast Juice. It is hard to find sometimes, and I do not want to pay the High Prices that the grocery store charges for the same sized product.

We were a little surprised to see how early the School Buses were bring the kids home from school. Even my children, walked to school, but it seems all elementary school children are bused today.

There was lots of reading to catch up on the Computers.

The “6 o’clock Local News” was on when we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for our late supper. The Weather Guesser was issuing warnings of the Cold Temperatures we can expect over the next Two Days.

We later watched a couple of episodes of “Law and Order” as well as “The Pitt”. Definitely, a lot of twists and turns that hold your attention.

Rough Night and Changing Forecast.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

I am not sure what the problem was last night, but I spent over half the night staring at the ceiling. It did not matter whether I was in Bed or in my Recliner, sleep was not my friend. Finally, I got up considering using another Extra Strength Tylenol, but I was not in Pain. Instead, I remembered that I have not used asleep aid in a long time. Luckily, the bottle of Zzzquil was with the rest of my medications. Minutes later I went back to Bed, where I spent the rest of the night sleeping.

It was minutes past 8:00 when I woke to find Kathy was not there. She was already reading things on her Computer when I joined her. We had Cereal for breakfast before taking our Coffees to our Computers. The outside temperature was only 10 F (-12 C) but would eventually make it to a hazy 16 F (-9 C) this afternoon, due to a few Flurries. Checking the forecast and Radar on The Weather Network, things had changed since yesterday. We will be seeing less changes to our landscape and the temperatures could start to increase next week.

I made the Homemade Italian Salad we had for lunch but was disappointed how it turned out. I do not like taking more Medications then I have to and it seemed by taking the sleep aid last night, I was not thinking clearly, by forgetting ingredients I normally use.

We received a call to confirm Kathy’s appointment next Monday, with her Rheumatologist. I guess they did not want her to forget.

The Weather Guesser, on the “6 o’clock Local News” confirmed what I had already noted earlier. We might even see more of the Sun this week.

We had Perogies for a late supper, before watching a few episodes of “Mayday”.

Tomorrow will be a busy day.

More Bitterly Cold Temperatures Heading Our Way.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

For the second night in a row, we both managed to get a fairly decent night’s sleep and we both got out of Bed around 8:30 this morning.

I was in the process of checking “The Weather Network” when I simply looked out the Balcony Door to see a Flurries thick enough, it was hard to see the Parking Lot below. The temperature was -6 F (-21 C) with the Southwest Winds making it feel like -22 F (-30 C). Strange that we got any Flurries.

Not having any Medical Appointments for the next couple of days, I had Kathy checking things on her Computer while I was making French Toast for breakfast.

There were other things that needed to be taken care of, like Verifying Appointments and watching the Plows, scraping the Parking Lot where tenants had gone to work. All that clean pavement will help to melt any accumulation.

Around 1:00, I started making Grilled Cheese and Olive Sandwiches for our late lunch. The bright spot of having Bread twice in one day was that it did not go to waste, after being here for a Month. (Note to self; add Bread to our Shopping List.)

We were enjoying our Sauteed Zucchini, Potato Slices and Honey Garlic Spareribs just as the “6 o’clock Local News” started. The Weather Guesser mentioned that we may see a few more Flurries but are definitely going to feel more Bitterly Cold Temperatures.

We later watched “Will Trent”, “High Potential” and “The Rookies” for some entertainment.

Not sure what we will be up to tomorrow.

Bad Roads and Downed Power-Lines.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Knowing that we had a morning appointment today, I made certain to set the Alarm before Kathy went to Bed. I basically joined her Two Hours later, where I spent the rest of my night. Of course, I was awake before the Alarm went off, so I was able to get cleaned up and dressed before waking Kathy. She requires more sleep than I do, so was really surprised when watching the News, they showed a Study that stated most women require more sleep then men.

Though I had told Kathy to wait until I cleaned the Car to pick her up at the rear entrance to our building, I was just putting the Brush away when she joined me in the Parking Lot.

Driving down Riverside Drive was quite the challenge, because the Plows had not scraped the pavement clean. Then Three Blocks to the west the road was closed due to Downed Power-Lines. The only road that had been properly cleaned today was the Expressway, the rest were a mess.

Since we did not have breakfast before leaving this morning, we stopped at the city’s west-end Wendy’s, where we had Breakfast Wraps and a Coffee. Because it had taken much longer to get across town, we took the Coffees with us.

We arrived at our Family Doctor’s Office, to find the vacant office in his building being renovated. We barely sat down and were call in. We did have to wait about Ten Minutes, but amused ourselves talking about the Anatomy Charts that were on the wall. George was able to review Test Results we have had recently and verify what I have suspected about the BP Machine at the Pain Clinic, it is not calibrated properly. George also verified that my going to the Gym would help me recover as long as I do not overdo the exercises.

When we left there, we stopped at Guardian Storage to collect our Mail and a Package. Their parking area had been properly cleaned, but nothing else had arrived.

From there we headed to Dyna-Care blood services in Tecumseh. The last time Kathy had her blood tested, some of her numbers were high. By our having eaten very lightly this morning, should turn those numbers around.

It was nearing 1:00 so we stopped at the Wendy’s nearest our home, where we enjoyed their Chicken Nuggets for lunch. The owner of that plaza had it clean as a summer’s day.

This morning, the Wind had been blowing from the Northwest, so we did not hear it blowing in our Apartment. Later this afternoon the Wind shifted to the Southwest, so we know when it is blowing. The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local Newsforecasted that these Winds could bring our actual temperature down to -26 F (-30 C) by tomorrow morning. Our high today was 19 F (-7 C) but not tomorrow.

I forgot to defrost meat for supper tonight so we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Chicken Pizza for a late supper.

We later watched a few episodes of “Forensic Files”.

Heavy White Fog Accumulation.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

It was a back-and-forth night again, but I did have a chuckle when closing down my CPAP Machines this morning. There was only a Seven Minute difference between the time spent in Bed and my Recliner.

I waited for Kathy to sit on the edge of the Bed before doing the same. The Bedroom and Livingroom were flooded with light, even with the Blinds in a closed position. The Sun never made an appearance today, instead it was the reflection off the White Landscaping.

We enjoyed a Coffee at our Computers, before sharing a smaller version of the Veggie Omelettes I normally make, for brunch. We brought another Coffee back to our Computers. I was able to make some adjustments so it would work a bit quicker and reset the Brightness level that constantly drops below 40%. Why that happens I have no idea. The Machine does it on its own.

Since we could not see our Balcony Railing most of the day, because the view resembled a Heavy Fog. I had the chance to get caught up on a few correspondences. It was not until the White Light started turning Grey, that we first heard the Plows cleaning paths for the Tenants in the parking lot. I am certain that their Bosses don’t want to hear they could not get to work because of the heavy accumulation. When the Parking Lot Security Lights came on, it made it easier for them to clean.

It was past 7:00 when Kathy mentioned getting hungry. By trying to cut back on our intakes, I have less appetite than Kathy. We shared an Acorn Squash for a late supper.

We hope the Roads are clear tomorrow, because we have an appointment and we might even do Tuesday’s appointment, a day early.

So Many Surprises

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Though I was slightly delayed trying to sleep last night, after Twenty Minutes of staring at the ceiling in my Recliner, I simply headed off to Bed. That really Surprised me since I felt so tired throughout yesterday. I recalled holding hands with Kathy a number of times throughout the night, as it brought back memories of early times in our relationship. The big letdown was when we both started needing to use CPAP Machines. They keep you breathing while you sleep, but they take away the simple things that help to keep Romance alive in a relationship, like holding one another or holding Hands at night.

The next Surprise was when we woke up, still holding Hands after sleeping in. We must have needed it.

We had Cereal for a late breakfast, before having our Coffees at our Computers, of course. There was plenty of reading to do before we got ready to run a few errands as a way of getting out of the Apartment. We shared some chores before leaving, Kathy taking the Trash to the chute, while I headed outside with our Recycle Containers.

The Temperature had risen from -9 F (-23 C) all the way to the Sunny daytime high of 7 F (-14 C) before we left. Kathy took my advice to wait inside the rear entrance while I cleaned the Ice off our windshield. We were Surprised by the fact, that there was only a slight breeze that made the temperature more tolerable than it had been days ago.

Our first stop was Guardian Store to collect our Mail, before going to eat. We stopped at Taco Bell, before Kathy said she wanted to go to Wendy’s. Kathy sat at our usual table while I went to get our food. A young family just ahead of me, were trying to teach their little daughter about behaving when eating out, and the young mother forgot her purse by the refreshment machine. Since I was carrying our tray, I left it at our table before telling them of their mistake. The young father retrieved the purse quite quickly.

That was not a Surprise but a Shock, but for it being 2:00 in the afternoon, we were Surprised that the place was continually full at that hour in the afternoon.

We swung by the recently refitted Dollarama to check for a few things. Occasionally that outlet carries the Vicks brand Cough Drops. I recall taking them when I was a child, they contain less Sugar than other brands, they work well and they Cost Less. Surprisingly, I found the Lemon flavoured almost immediately for Kathy, but not the Cherry flavoured ones that I prefer, until we reached the cashier’s counter.

Having walked the entire store, Kathy Surprisingly was eager for me to drop her off at the front entrance to our building.

We were back on our Computers shortly after getting back home. That late lunch totally satisfied us, until nearly 7:30 when we were Surprised that we had not eaten supper yet, which is also when we take our nighttime Medications. We shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Hawaiian Pizza, while watching a few episodes of “Forensic Files”.

Not sure what we will be up to tomorrow, since the forecast is calling for 4” to 6” of Landscape Whitening.
