Almost Didn’t Make It.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

After having a problem walking around the Apartment most of the weekend, it appeared that things were getting better this morning, when I got up. That was until I got out the back door and nearly went down a few times. The walk to the Truck only took Ten Minutes for that single minute stroll. As I sat in the driver’s seat I even thought about calling it a day, but I’m not one to leave anyone hanging.

Luckily, I have driven Standard Transmission Vehicles since my grandfather stuck me on a Tractor during harvest season. This morning that experience came in useful as I wasn’t sure my Right Leg had the strength to apply the Brakes, so they were operated as if they were a Clutch, by my Left Leg.

It took slightly longer to get dressed for the job, and even while wearing my Braces, still needed to use my Cane walking around the Plant. That caught everyone’s attention, so when I needed to move a Four Thousand Pound Feedscrew on the Cart, everyone seemed to pitch in. Even as I was mounting the Unit into the PTA, Mile himself helped out.

I showed Mile the Appointment Calendar that I have hung on the Welding Screens. I pointed to next week’s Surgeon Appointment. I told him to start looking for another Welder, because the way I was feeling, I didn’t think I would last the day. There was no colour left in his face when he walked away.

Nobody bothered me with petty things the entire day. We were trying a different approach on a Rebuild Screw. The Torch only wandered a few of time, but until 4:00 this afternoon it did not plug up once. Then inside the next Hour, it plugged Three Times. I finally had the Unit buried in the Sandbox just after 6:00.

It was just before 7:00 when I walked in the Apartment. I had been taking an Extra Strength Tylenol every Four Hours throughout the day which made keeping the Pain under control easier. Now if I wake in the middle of the night to repeat the pattern I should be doing better in the morning.

  1. looks like it is time to go. You are starting to look like the poster child for socialized medicine. Maybe come to the US and get fixed up.

    1. If I was in that much pain, I would figure out a way. Otherwise, just sit there in painfor years waiting for socialized medicine to make something available. You need to take care of yourself, not let government do it and control everything. {Prove me wrong.
