Not So Cold, Change Of Plan and Repurposing.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

After the Weather Guessers forecasted a low of -2 F (-19 C) feeling like -17 F (-27 C) for last night I adjusted the heat a bit so we wouldn’t get too cold and it worked. The reason is that it only dropped to 5 F (-15 C) and felt like -8 F (-22 C) and the wind wasn’t as fierce as originally forecasted either.
To celebrate Valentines Day we had Toast with Raspberry Jam for breakfast this morning. We briefly discussed what our plans were for the day before taking our hot drinks over to the Computers. In response to a Comment about our Electrical Costs being high we can’t really answer that. Since we sold our house in 2011 we have only paid Fifteen Cents per Kilowatt Hour while we stayed at Wildwood RV Park in McGregor. Both apartments since the house included all our utilities.
Ice flows on the River.
After our usual reading we both did more research on the Three Bin Vertical Trash Recycle Center. No matter what we found it was either priced out of this world, meant for outdoors, bigger then what we already have or could not be shipped to Canada. We re-examined our options.

For lunch we reheated the Leftovers we brought home from last night’s dinner and it tasted just as good.

As soon as we finished washing up the Dishes we headed back out the door and with the cold temperatures Kathy actually waited for me to bring the Car to the door.
Our first stop was again Canadian Tire where we again headed to the Trash Container Aisle. Kathy didn’t like the design of the Stackable Recycle Bins so I again explained what I could make to house Three Five Gallon Garbage Pails. It won’t be made until the Spring but the end result will be a design that will use less then Twenty-Five Percent of the Floor Space at a fraction of the price of other options. She agreed to that but then she ran another Idea for something else past me.
Being our Television sits on a TV/Entertainment Center it takes up too much floor space and the Television is too low for our liking. We checked what they had available before checking elsewhere.
We went to Dollarama to pick up a few things we didn’t have on our List yesterday. We also picked up a couple of LED Lights that produce 900 Lumens of light. They are the size of a deck of cards, can be handheld, hung up, propped up or magnetically attached to things. They came with Batteries for only $4.00.
Our next stop was Walmart where there was nothing to fit our needs so we started checking out the local Furniture Stores. First we headed to Guardian Storage where we collected a week’s worth of Mail. Then we headed to The Brick, Leon’s, Ashley’s, JYSK, and finally to Tepperman’s only to have the same results as our original idea on the Recycle Center too costly and too big.
It was after 7:00 when we stopped at Arby’s to have supper. As we ate Kathy was talking about selling off the few pieces of Furniture we still have in our Storage Unit at a Garage Sale at our daughter’s in the spring. Since we all like to Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose that’s when it dawned on me. We have a Sideboard that will probably do what we need for the Television and Kathy agreed.
Our next destination back to the Apartment. It was a long and tiring day that gave us plenty of walking for exercise. We’ll be watching the 11 o’clock Local News but already know we’ll be busy tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Amazing the number of trips you two can make in a day. Finally found what you needed right under your nose. :))

  2. I do not know how you all do it going from place to place in your low temperatures.

Thank your for your reply to my question. Here in the USA it is very rare to find an apartment that includes all utilities paid and if you do you better be prepared to pay a bundle for rent.

    Stay warm.

  5. Remember how crazy expensive those LED lights were when they first came on the market? I think I paid about $100 for the three bulbs (that are still going strong)in the light fixture in our newly renovated kitchen in 2002 or 2004.
