Strange Sound, Cleaning Our Vehicles, More Gathering and Congratulations Jenna.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

One thing is for certain that after installing the Window Shades yesterday the apartment was quite a bit darker throughout the night. When the Sun rose this morning, we didn’t as a fact we slept until nearly 8:00 this morning and that was only because we heard a strange noise outside. After not spending the last few Winters in Ontario we had forgotten what that sound was. Even on the Eighth Floor with our Window and Balcony Door shut we could hear the sound of people scraping Ice off their vehicle’s windows. Those were the same people that probably came home after a day at work in a warm car that melted the falling SXXW only to have Ice to deal with this morning.
After breakfast we spent a little time on our Computers while we drank our morning Coffees. In some of the comments about the Drawer Pull Outs some have expressed that they want to install then in their RVs. My advice is to first measure the depth of your Cabinets because some are not as deep as the ones in a house. We have also spotted some that were made with Lighter Materials at different stores that could have been smaller. They probably did not have the Anti-Slam or Slow Close mechanism in them either.
The Truck is in the lower left corner and
the Car is the lower middle of the picture.
We then made another of those Lists that we have become dependant on to remind us of what we need to do. It’s a good thing we aren’t too busy or we’d really be in a bind.

We didn’t even pick up a tool today instead I started taking apart Boxes that once held Drawer Pull Outs, Blinds and Bookshelves. Kathy gathered the Trash before going to get a Shopping Cart for me to haul it all down stairs. After doing all that I realized I should have taken a before and after picture of the pile and space that it had taken up.

With the Temperature being as cold as it was I made certain to dress warmly dawning my Winter Parka that had been in our Storage Unit. It was a good thing that the Recycle Bins downstairs had all been emptied this morning because I nearly filled one myself.

Since I was outside I continued to the parking lot where I would spend the next Hour cleaning the Eight Plus Inches of SXXW off both the Car and the Truck. Since the empty Storage Bins were still in the Backseat of the Truck I had to use the Car’s Snow Brush to clean them both off. Since the Sun had warmed the SXXW enough to create a thin layer of Ice at its base I simply cleaned off the SXXW and let the Sun melt away the Ice base.
As soon as Kathy saw me heading towards the building from the parking lot she started making Split Pea Soup with Ham along with Cheese and Crackers for lunch. It tasted wonderful and started warming me up nearly as fast as I could eat it.

As soon as Kathy finished washing the Dishes we were heading out the door with our List. When asked what vehicle we were taking she just said “I know the Truck will get us through the SXXW’ and she was right.

Our first stop was Guardian Storage where we dropped off the Empty Containers and picked up the Shovel that is normally in the Truck. It was strange seeing the Backseat once again usable and I was able to retrieve the Snow Brush from behind the seat. We checked for Mail before heading off.
We returned to Structube to bring a special accent piece home with us. I’ll wait until I post pictures of the apartment to show you.

Today's parking lot.
Back to our List we headed across the street to Canadian Tire where we would spend over an Hour getting everything and more on our List that will help make our apartment more comfortable.
With everything loaded in the Truck we drove to the Real Canadian Superstore to get a few groceries that we were starting to run out of.
Since we still had time before our 5:00 appointment we drove over to KFC to have supper. We were able to use one of our Coupons to get a good meal at a reasonable price.

We arrived at Fantastic Sam’s for our haircuts with a few minutes to spare. The last time we were there Jenna seemed to be in a very upbeat mood. Today we found out that she will be going off on “Maternity Leave in the Spring. “Congratulations Jenna”. Now we’ll have to train another Hairdresser how we cut our hair.

It was dark by the time we headed back towards the apartment and you could feel the temperature dropping. I dropped Kathy off before parking the Truck. I met Kathy at the rear entrance where she had located a Shopping Cart for me. It wasn’t easy but I managed to pull it through the SXXW and fill it with all our purchases.

With temperatures expected to feel like -4 F (-20 C) tonight it looks like we’ll make tomorrow another stay at home day but not evening. I’ll let you know why tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Oh the whoas of snow. Shoveling, scrapping, dragging carts. Yuk! But it is beautiful though.
You're right about the drawer slides. It took me some time to find replacements for the crappy ones in the trailer. Managed to get them at Princess Auto for half the cost of Home Depot.

  3. Brrrrrrrr .... I always had to have something heavy in the back of my truck to keep from spinning out in the snow. If I lived there, I would probably stay home a LOT!!

  6. Wish we had Canadian Tire stores here in the states. Seems like they carry everything you could ever need and probably a lot more of things you didn't know you needed! :c)

  7. After seeing all that snow there is no way I am going to complain about our arctic front. We had a high of 48 F today a virtual heat wave by comparison.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new place. Bundle up!
