Running Around Gathering What We Need.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

So far there are no Curtains or Blinds in our Bedroom or Living Room so we tend to wake when the Sun finally makes its way through the Clouds. Even though we had planned on installing them soon; being on the Eighth Floor there’s not much chance to have many people peering in. Besides that’s my side of the bed and they’d be very disappointed.

Up again by 7:30 we were enjoying our Coffee/Tea while doing a quick read at the Computers. After making another more extensive list we headed out the door by 9:30 in order to accomplish all the stops we needed to.

The first stop was our Climate Controlled Storage Unit at Guardian Storage. We had all those Boxes that Kathy had sorted through yesterday to drop off until we have a Yard Sale at our daughter’s house in the Spring. Since the Unit is heated in the Winter and cooled in the Summer there is little if any deterioration to our belongings.

As mentioned yesterday we were looking for End Tables and a Book Case that will serve multiply purposes. After having gone On-Line and looking on Marketplace, Kijij E-Bay, Amazon and a number of Big Box Sites we thought that we’d do it old school and go to an actual Store.

Our first stop was Tepperman’s furniture store at 10:20 only to find out they don’t open until 11:00 on Sundays. Since we hadn’t eaten breakfast we headed over to the Hi-Ho/Michigan Diner on Howard Avenue for a Brunch. The place was packed but we were seated immediately had our Coffee in Five Minutes and Ten Minutes after that we were eating our delicious Greek Omelettes. Kathy took half in a Take Home Box that she’ll have tomorrow.

With the long line to pay our tab we arrived back at Tepperman’s by 11:10. We searched the Annex Section then we walked around the entire store. Nothing that we liked or the prices were astronomical.
We headed down the road too Leon’s furniture store only to have the same results.
The next stop was the second Lowe’s outlet in Windsor. We found the rest of the Drawer Pullouts that we had originally planned on waiting to get but figured our sanity was at stake and it was better to get ourselves organized. We also managed to get a Blind that will fit our Bedroom Window but no Bookshelf.

From there we drove to Canadian Tire where we had a list of things that we were slowly finding including our BookshelfOn Sale” at a very reasonable price.
We went to check out the Ikea to see what they had. Not much because you have to order it in then when it arrives they call you to pick it up. Their selection was not that impressive either.
Seeing a new store in that strip mall Structube furniture and accessories we turned around to check it out. Even though they didn’t have what we were looking for they did have something that we’ll go back to get for our decor.
Getting a little desperate we even went back to Walmart. They didn’t have what we were looking for as far as End Tables but we scratched the last two items off our list.

Back at the apartment while Kathy went to open up the door I used a Shopping Cart to haul our purchases upstairs. The load was heavy enough that it was difficult to push on the Berber Carpet in the hallway.

With the weather forecast of Six Inches of SXXW through tomorrow our plan is to organize the apartment but to do that I needed a few more Tools. Another list was made before we headed back towards the Trailer.

Because it was past 5:30 we first had to stop back at Canadian Tire where I found the Coaxial Connector we need to hook up our second Television and Kathy found the Shelf Liner she wanted.

At the Trailer I made certain that I had all the Tools I would need too get our projects finished before joining Kathy inside. We both gathered Winter Clothing from the closet that we will need.

Going back to the Storage Unit it was a matter of moving things out so I could retrieve our second Television. In the process Kathy again found more Winter Clothing to bring back to the apartment.

Being that it was after 6:30 and it was nearly Eight Hours since we’d eaten we stopped at Harvey’s where we used a coupon to save on our supper

Our hot showers felt wonderful taking away a lot of aches. Tomorrow we will try to seriously make this place feel like a home. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. We rarely closed our bedroom blind as we like waking up with the sun. Sounds like you had a fairly productive day :-)
