Fun At Blogger-Fest, Teaching An Electrician and Long Wait For Supper

Our Location today is at the La Posa South, LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona.

Even though we weren’t going anywhere this morning and we weren’t going far this afternoon Kathy had a hard time sleeping last night. I actually slept like a rock. Do any of you notice a pattern? It seems when one of us is sleeping soundly the other spends the night staring at the ceiling or solving the world problems that neither of our opinions would matter.

After finishing breakfast we did manage to get some reading done but being that we had something going we could not linger too long. Once I was ready to go I had to go dig the Tables out of our Basement so we would have something to put any snacks that might show up this afternoon.

Kathy cleaned up the last of the Homemade Chicken and Rice Soup that we made earlier this week along with the last of the Fresh Made Bread that we got at Coyote Fresh Foods in Quartzsite for our lunch. It all tasted so wonderful that it made you want to have a nap like a child with a full belly but we didn’t have time for that.

Suzie, Anne with Phoebe, Deb and Tom.
We headed out the door shortly after 12:30 and slowly drove the Half Mile to the Ramada where the Blogger-Fest was scheduled to start at 1:00. There were Two Vehicles that I didn’t immediately recognize parked nearby but with no one outside I felt maybe the Blogger-Fest sign was not on the Entrance Road. We kept driving towards the Entrance but when neither of us spotted it we just made a U-turn and headed back to the Pavilion.

If you noticed that I said Ramada (what it’s called here) in one sentence and Pavilion (what we would call it back home) that should confuse you a bit. Imagine what the occupants of those Two Vehicles that recognized our Truck thought when we just kept driving by.

When we finally parked and I started unloading the Table they must have felt relieved and came out to greet us. The couples were Marlene and Benno from Marlene and Benno’s Odysseys on Land and Water who had driven in from Yuma and John and Aileen from John and Aileen on the Road. With Hugs and Handshakes all around we chatted until others started arriving. The next was Anne from Right Brain; Right Lane with her new travel companion Phoebe who was rescued and enjoying a better life.

Paula from In the Shadows was next to arrive. Since she is a resident of Arizona Paula was charged this year with obtaining the LTVA Permit for using the Ramada for the Blogger-Fest and putting up the Signs. After she drove in from Phoenix this morning she put up the Sign at the Entrance Road then went for a bite to eat. When she returned she found the Sign had blown over and had to reset it.

The next to arrive were Tom and Deb from Celebrating the Dance. The rest of the group were attending a Canadian Pot Luck Luncheon at the QIA on Ironwood but would be arriving shortly.

When I saw a 450 Dually with Alberta plates on it I got all excited. It was John from John and Brenda’s Incredible Journey. When I started reading RV Blogs long ago here was John and Brenda bringing their Horses from Canada to the American Southwest and riding the trails all over. We’ve commented on one another’s Blogs for many years and now we would finally meet. Brenda had broken her Ankle and had to fly home to Canada to get it taken care so John and the dogs Max and Maya were holding down the fort at Dogpound Anywhere.
(L-R) Kathy, Bill and Rob in his chair.
Finally the Canadian Crew from Ontario arrived. We had George and Suzie from Our Awesome Travels, Bill from On Our Way and his wife Pat from Chillin’ With Patsy along with their friends and Blog-Followers Rob and Pat along with Ken and Kim who we just met yesterday.

After Paula started things off with her introduction the floor (actually stone and dirt) was passed around the circle to those in attendance. That’s where we found out that Ken was graduating from a Follower to a Blogger with the help of Patsy who is coaching him how to set it up. I somehow forgot the name he mentioned but know that it will soon be added to our Sidebar for others to read. After Kathy and I talked about our blog It’s about time, (Catchy Isn’t it?) Bill started introducing himself and said his blog was It’s about time. It took a few seconds for the wide-eyed expressions from everyone gave while looking at him and the instant replay in his mind before he realized what he said. We all had a good laugh. (Told you it was catchy Bill, LOL!)
After everyone knew one another we all broke off into small conversation groups. In the process we had a late arrival and as I was welcoming him, he read my hat that says It’s about time. That’s where he just said “You must be Rick”. It was Ed from Chasing Sunrises and Sunsets another Blog that I have been commenting on for years. His wife Sharon wasn’t feeling up to par today from a recent surgery so he came over to say hello by himself. (Sorry about the bad picture Ed.)
The invitation to Blogger-Fest said everyone was welcome so when someone rode up on his Bicycle from La Posa West we welcomed Craig. He is from the Oshawa area in Ontario and has been reading most of our Blogs for a while.

Everyone was starting to head off around 3:30 before we thought to take a group photo when suddenly Cheryl a Blog Reader with her husband Ed came up to introduce themselves. Ed was planning on mounting Solar Panels on their RV but Cheryl was having none of that until he talked to me first. We talked for a short while at the Ramada before I suggested they come and see what we had.

Back at our Trailer while Cheryl and Kathy visited I was giving Ed tips on Waste Management for flushing his Black Tank by using his Grey Water. I gave him some suggestions for his Solar only because of the research that I have done but Ed was an Electrician so he could teach me a few things. We all talked for a while longer but we’ll get together at our next Campfire where Ed and I can talk shop a bit more. It was after 5:30 when Kathy finally shut me up long enough for them to leave and I forgot to take a picture.
When we get overly tired or hungry we can’t think straight enough to cook up supper so we decided just to go out. First we went to the Main Street Restaurant and were surprised to see them closed before 6:00 on a Saturday evening. When we saw the line of people going lined up out the front door at Taco Mio we headed over to Times Three Family Restaurant. They were so bust we waited Twenty Minutes to get a table and another 45 Minutes wait for our food. We had to coach ourselves not to gulp down our food.

We missed the Sunset this evening and it was after 8:00 by the time we got Home. We aren’t sure what we are up to tomorrow because we’ve got things to do and things to see. What should we do? Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  7. Thank you so much for keeping me on task with the paperwork for Bloggerfest. Also, thank you for getting the names and blogs of those who attended. These details are part of what makes Bloggerfest what it is. As mentioned yesterday, I will show up with the signs again next year. I hope to see as many bloggers or lurkers or folks new to the lifestyle as can show up.
