Dealing With Verizon, Finding A New Restaurant and We’re Finished Christmas Shopping For 2019.

Our Location today is at the Dream Catcher RV Park in Deming, NM.

It felt good to sleep in until 7:00 MST this morning but the moment that we got out from under the covers we were more then awake. I’d already started getting things ready for breakfast and doing other chores before the thought to check the Outside Temperature occurred to me. Watching the Frost melt off the Truck showed the Sun was warming things up but watching a Dog’s Breath as he was being walked told me that it was still too cool for our liking.
We had our Blueberry Muffin at the table then brought our Coffee/Tea over to the Computers to drink. Some of the News that we have been reading On-Line lately makes one wonder who’s side our Governments are really on.

Kathy let me research where our next stop will be as well as where we’ll spend the night before continuing on tomorrow.
We still had a few errands to run so while I took care of packing the Trash and bringing it to the bin Kathy made up Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwiches to go along with the Mandarin Orange, Apple Sauce and Cookies we’d have for dessert.

Our first destination was to the local Verizon outlet. We try to pay our monthly fees for our MiFi Hotspot on time but Verizon doesn’t make it easy. Because we don’t have a permanent US Address we are not allowed to take care of our account On-Line. Around the end of this past summer if we called from a phone that is not registered as a Verizon Line their automated system tells you that “Our records show that you are not a Customer” and hangs up on you. I was able to call from Canada by going through their Tech Support but the last time they told me to call the number that hangs up on me and would not put me through. Great Customer Service!

Today after paying my bill at the outlet the young woman called the Customer Service Number for me to voice my concerns. When they answered she accidentally hung up the phone twice because of her Two Inch Long Finger Nails touching the wrong buttons. Finally talking to Jackson he recommended that I dial *67 before the Customer Service Number so the Computer wouldn’t know that the phone I was calling from wasn’t one of theirs and should let me in.

I also complained that our MiFi Plan was supposed to work in Canada but didn’t which ended up costing me for a Cable Connection back home. When he checked our records he said that option, even though I had been paying for it had never been activated. He activated it for us and hopefully when we go back to Canada in the spring we won’t have a repeat of needing a Cable Connection.

We went next door to the Dollar Tree where everything is a Dollar and picked up a few things that we’ll use to wrap the Christmas Gifts. We took our time and did some people watching in the process. It was funny watching a Three Year Old telling his mother that he needed to buy a toy.
Since we’ll be leaving in the morning we stopped at the Valero gas station where we fueled up on Diesel at $2.99 a Gallon. When the receipt wouldn’t print at the Pump I went inside to get it. That was when I saw they had a small Restaurant inside besides a store. When I mentioned it to Kathy she said we should have a snack. Since we had already done a lot of walking we ended up having a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Onion Rings. The Chicken was moist and very tasty and the Onion Rings were homemade not packaged.
Yesterday when we went to Walmart we had purchased a replacement Water Kettle but when we got Home I found out what the problem was with ours and repaired it so today I returned the new one. They simply credited our account. While there Kathy had her Christmas Shopping List with her and we looked at a number of different options. When we walked out after 6:00 we were able to say that our Christmas Shopping for 2019 is finished.

Back Home at the Dream Catcher RV Park we had to get creative. Living in our Home on wheels and preferring to purchase Gifts for our Loved Ones rather then Gift Cards means we have to Store and Transport them while not leaving them in plain view. After Kathy added them to her Spreadsheet I got really creative on putting everything away. Gifts! Where? We’ll see them again in the spring.

Tomorrow we’ll be back on the road as we make our way into Arizona. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Nice to find a different place to eat and the food looks good! Never fun dealing with certain companies for sure. You'd think with online it would be the same and you wouldn't need an address, just a credit card..geez! Congrats on getting all your Christmas shopping done for next year!

  4. When we stayed at Dream Catcher (more than once) this time of year, we never had water until about 9:30. Their lines are close to the surface and would freeze up. Always had to use water from our tank in the mornings.

Don't get me started on Verizon. After 2+ months of trying to get their Cantenna hooked up at the house, still nothing. Five appointments made, 5 no-shows. Hours and hours on the phone each time to be transferred to someone else. One time it was THREE hours on the phone. Always apologies but no action. We gave up.

  5. We too had a Mifi that was to work in Canada or Mexico. HOWEVER the Canadian carriers aren't getting paid for YOUR usage on your Verizon Mifi and will limit the amount of use to ABOUT 512 mb per day before slowing it way, way, way down to the point it isn't useable. They didn't tell anyone about that little tid bit until I called at one point this past summer season to complain about the speed.
    Safe travels.

    1. Interesting to know. Over the years I have gone through the whole gambit of different carriers while here in the state. About 4 years ago went with Rogers with roam as you go. So then it was $5 a day 10 days maximum for the month. This year it is $7 a day but 15 days maximum a month. So over 50% increase in the 4 years. No wonder all carriers have such bad reviews.

  9. Sounds like Verizon has pretty bad customer service.
